Name change

[edit]

Did they formally change the name of this too? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Simfan34 (talkcontribs) 12:27, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not yet. It's just the typical wikipediot jumping of the gun. Not even the official Downtown Burj *Dubai* website reflects a name change. 99.140.209.67 (talk) 07:15, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Worse, it appears the guy responsible for the name change is some newbie who has no more than 20 edits to his name. So much for quality control in this complete mess of an encyclopedia. 99.140.209.67 (talk) 07:20, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Might I point out that the Burj Khalifa website hasn't even updated it's name yet, and we know for sure that the name of Burj Dubai has been changed.
Might I point out that *on* the website the name of the building has indeed been changed. Whether the domain name has changed is totally irrelevant. 99.140.209.67 (talk) 09:35, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Now settle down, anyone is free to edit this encyclopedia, and this 'wikipediot' obviously felt that the name required a change because of the recent Burj Dubai name change. It was obviously decided by every other editor watching this page or just keeping track of recent events that the name should remain this way, or someone would have moved the page back to its previous name. It has been general consensus that Downtown Burj Khalifa will stay until proven to have not changed. --timsdad (talk) 07:37, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but that's not the way WP is supposed to work. What you describe the wikipediot doing is WP:OR, and what you and everyone else is doing is ignoring WP:SOURCE. Someone whose been editing here for three yrs should know the five pillars by now, but you obviously do not. More proof that the QC in this place is for shit. 99.140.209.67 (talk) 09:35, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
And Speaking of WP:SOURCE, I have a source here [[1]] that says that the decision whether to rebrand the Downtown Burj Dubai to Downtown Burj Khalifa has not even been made yet (as of Jan 12), so I stand by my original comment that a wikipediot jumped the gun in renaming the article. Now, Timsdad, unless you can dredge up a better source that says otherwise, why don't you be a good little wikipedian and change the name of the article back? And might I also suggest that you review basic WP policy? 99.140.209.67 (talk) 09:48, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
