Nationality
[edit]I have added Northern Irish to describe Doug Beattie's nationality as I think it's the best one for the following reasons:
- The phrase "From Northern Ireland" is ambiguous at best as he was born in England which there are reliable sources to confirm this.
- There is a reference later on in the article saying that he identifies as Irish and British as well as Northern Irish.
- He is mostly associated with Northern Irish politics so Northern Irish would seem the best choice out of the three. It's not uncommon for politicians to have multiple national identities. For example Gordon Brown is both Scottish and British but he is mostly associated with Westminster politics so British is the best way to describe him. Ian Paisley on the other hand identified as British, Irish, Ulster and Northern Irish but he was mostly associated with Northern Irish politics so Northern Irish is most appropriate to describe him. These guidelines are in WP:UKNATIONALS.
