Moving this page

[edit]

I would like to move this page. But before I do, I'd like to hear others' opinions on the topic and put it to a vote. What's at issue is the fact that "Duala" refers to four different things: the largest city in Cameroon, the Duala people, the language spoken by that people, and a group of related Bantu languages. Adding to the confusion is the fact that any of these may be written as either "Duala" or "Douala". So how do we sort this out?

A little background information: Most English-language sources tend to use "Duala" for the ethnic group and the languages; they reserve "Douala" for the city. French-language sources tend to use "Douala" for all of these.

Please vote for one of the options below. If you don't like any that are there, please add a new voting option.

Make Duala a disambiguation page, and move the article about the city to Douala.

[edit]
  1. As I wrote above, this is how most English-language sources handle the issue. BrianSmithson 01:27, 16 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Besides, Douala appears to be the more common spelling. Warofdreams 10:45, 18 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I've done the move, and made Duala a (really) basic disambig page. Talrias (t | e | c) 13:55, 21 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Largest City

[edit]

This page says Douala has 1.2 million but the Wikipedia page for Yaounde says that city has 1.4 million. Which makes it the largest city in Cameroon. 4.142.96.98 00:15, 15 September 2007 (UTC)eric[reply]

Trade with Chad?

[edit]

This city specifically handles "trade with Chad?" What? This seems very dubious to me...anyone have any idea what it might be referring to? -Elmer Clark (talk) 07:40, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What is missing from the recently created city timeline article? Please add relevant content. Contributions welcome. Thank you. -- M2545 (talk) 15:05, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This sub-section has an image without a caption or border. It is actually a video in .ogg format on Commons, Rond point deido.ogv.

A knowledgeable person needs to change the markup so that it displays as a video, and add a caption. The statue depicted is La Nouvelle Liberté.--Quisqualis (talk) 23:55, 5 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Using trial and error, I have mostly fixed it, other than the default lefthand position.--Quisqualis (talk) 01:05, 6 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
