2006 post

[edit]

Here's a bit to get us started on an article about Dorothy Wilding.

Sources:

1) The citation for Hutchinson's Biography Database entry on Dorothy Wilding (1893-1976) includes the following, verbatim. I can request the entire entry from my library, though I'm not certain it'll include more info than this.

Dorothy Wilding (1893-1976)
English society photographer, considered the most successful portraitist during the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s in the U.K. She popularized the profile portrait as well as innovative, stylized settings. She enjoyed a long-standing close relationship with the royal family and is perhaps best known for her definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, used on postage stamps during the 1950s and 1960s.
She worked in studios in both London, England, and in New York, New York, U.S.A.

2) The National Portrait Gallery web site includes nice information on Ms. Wilding too. [1]

I'm relatively new to Wiki stuff, so please be kind if I'm going about this in the wrong way! Keesiewonder 14:48, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
