Pages moved to Donald Reid (politician born 1833), Donald Reid (politician born 1850) and Donald Reid (politician born 1855). Consensus was to move. Consensus was to use birth year. There no objections to adding politician, so that version won out. Vegaswikian (talk) 20:55, 24 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

– We have three former New Zealand MPs of the name Donald Reid. One of those pairs is father and son, and the naming conventions suggest to use ", Sr." or ", Jr.". With the third politician in the game, this isn't quite so clear cut, and I'd thus prefer to use their birth years, which is one of the more 'creative' options listed on the naming conventions page. Note that their death years could also be used, but they all died within three years, so they have a better spread in their birth years. Schwede 66 05:24, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Comment. Yes, I agree this definitely needs to be sorted out. Considering the dob and dod is known for all three, I'd prefer to use both birth year and death year in the title. So, it would be Donald Reid (1855–1920), Donald Reid (1833–1919) and Donald Reid (1850–1922). Jenks24 (talk) 18:53, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose per WP:QUALIFIER Years of birth and death are not normally used as disambiguators (readers are more likely to be seeking this information than to already know it) although this may be necessary when there are multiple people with the same name and tag..., naming should be Donald Reid (politician born 1855), Donald Reid (politician born 1833) and Donald Reid (politician born 1850). --ClubOranje^T 11:05, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
