Donald Crisp was born George William Crisp on 27 July 1882 at home in Bow in the Poplar District (now Tower Hamlets) in East London, and therefore an English actor. In the main article I indirectly cited the most reliable source as reference for the date and place of his birth. It is just a scanned image of the master index of all Births, Marriages, and Deaths for all of England and Wales, but it does permit free access and it does confirm both the place (East London) and the date (registered in the three month period July, August, September 1882). Those that wish to pay can look at his specific Birth Certificate details on page 594 of Volume 1 Section C in the Registry of Births for 4 September 1882 in the Poplar District (physically owned by its successor, Tower Hamlets). His mother Elizabeth Crisp did not register his late July birth until early September. You are not the first to be misled by his claims concerning his background (see the "Oxford University?" section below (coming shortly)).
