Pompeo's role

[edit]

Why is there no mention of Pompeo's role in this? https://www.reuters.com/article/us-afghanistan-taliban-talks/pompeo-lands-in-doha-for-launch-of-afghan-peace-talks-idUSKBN2620OY

Senate approval

[edit]

The US Constitution requires "the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two-thirds of the Senators present concur". Did that happen? It seems like it did not happen. So is this not, legally, a treaty? User:力 (power~enwiki, π, ν)

Better Source Needed... than the US State Dept?

[edit]

Why is there a "better source needed" tag on a link to the US State Department's website? This is from a .gov domain, so it seems like a primary source to me. Jthemphill (talk) 01:02, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Doha Agreement (2020)US–Taliban Deal – Per WP:CONCISE, WP:COMMONNAME and WP:RECOGNIZABLE. The disambiguator in parenthesis will be no longer needed (no confusion with Doha Agreement (2008) and Fatah–Hamas Doha Agreement). Not only is the proposed title shorter, but also it accurately describes both the parties involved. On Google News, "Doha Agreement" gets about 5,370 results (which also include hundreds of irrelevant results about other Doha deals), but "US-Taliban Deal" gets about 9,240 results (which are exclusively about this deal), easily making "US–Taliban Deal" more common by a good margin. Also, we do not need to write the "United States" in full; we can use the "US" because we have other similar titles, e.g. the US–UK Mutual Defence Agreement.
