[edit]Deleted the second paragraph as it concerns the Doe Run company's operation in Herculanium Missori which is 50 miles away from Doe Run Missouri —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.175.65.33 (talk) 16:38, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Please reference Doe Run company in Herculanium. It is not in Doe Run Missouri. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.175.65.33 (talk) 16:56, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
- Again removing misplaced paragraph about Herculaneum, Missouri:
- The Doe Run Company, a lead smelting operation which first originated in Doe Run, Missouri was featured in Blacksmith Institute's World's Worst Polluted Places because of toxic emissions generated at its current location in Herculaneum, Missouri.[1] According to the Sierra Club, "In 2000 alone, the Doe Run Company admitted releasing more than 2.2 millions of pounds of lead into the environment, mostly to on-site piles of smelter waste and directly to the air. As a result, air, water, soil, and ultimately children's blood have become polluted with lead in the surrounding area of Jefferson County, Missouri."[2]
