separate entry for Divisia index

[edit]

Econterms (talk) 18:38, 16 December 2008 (UTC) Divisia index redirects to this page, Divisia monetary aggregates. I think Divisia index should have a separate entry, because the Divisia concept/technique is used for physical quantity indexes and price indexes as well as indexes of different types of money. The new entry would draw text from this entry, and also from some research I am doing into the formal economics literature. This entry itself doesn't need to change much except to cite the existence of the new entry, which would define an underlying concept. I am drafting the background to the new text at http://econterms.net/econwiki/index.php?title=Divisia_index and would welcome teammates, especially if they know a lot about this topic or they know French and have access to the original works of Divisia. It's not clear anybody would object to this proposed change but feel free to speak up and participate.[reply]

I'm very happy there is a wiki page on this!

Two suggestions: 1. It could use a couple sentences on the importance: traditional monetary aggregates fail, and these are designed to work. 2. Relatedly, perhaps there should be a link to this page from the "Money Supply" page: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Money_supply (I made this suggestion in that page's talk; I just joined wiki so am getting used to it, but will attempt these when I feel more comfortable.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dvorak oneday (talkcontribs) 23:28, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
