Trilogy?

[edit]

The picture of the boxed set shows what looks like four books—three regular sized ones and a fourth thinner one titled Four—yet there is no mention in the article of a fourth book.

I agree, I propose that the page be renamed either Divergent quadrilogy of Divergent (book series). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.43.191.110 (talk) 00:17, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Location, location, location

[edit]

In the films, the first two films are set in some abstract walled garden ruined city somewhere reminiscent of Aeon Flux. In the third film, suddenly we're transported to the other side of the world when we are told this city has all along been in far-away America (specifically Chicago, which will make no difference to most in the audience). It all seemed more credible when the location was left unresolved. It defies suspension of disbelief that the walled city's power station, reservoir, oil refinery, petrol stations, sewerage treatment plant, computer factories, chemistry production labs, schools, hospitals, libraries, etc. all had every trace of documentation, signage, telephone directories, maps, receipts, etc. bearing the word "Chicago" perfectly eradicated before David installed his pet zoo there and occasionally infiltrated into the experiment outsiders carrying artefacts capable of retconning 200-year-old prophecies about themselves. (How far can evolution really advance in those meagre 6 - 8 generations?) The lede of this article declares the tale set in Chicago, but it seems from this quote that deciding on the location didn't happen until 2013 (Divergent 2011, Insurgent 2012, Allegiant 2013). After all, when there is only one city in the (known) world, calling it "the city" is clear and unambiguous enough! I think the article would be improved by setting the scene as taking place "in the last known city on Earth (ultimately revealed to have been Chicago in America)" since that highlights that the characters in the story, the reader holding the book and even the writer filling the book had no idea Chicago would be the arbitrary name pinned on the fictional city for the first two thirds of the journey. 49.180.64.180 (talk) 07:11, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Except, the name of "the city" is shown on screen in the very beginning, right before the opening credits. T-Zee (talk) 02:05, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
