Talk:Distributed lock manager

I believe this page has a few problems, in that it doesn't actually explain any of the issues in distributed locking (nor refer to any pages that do); it gives no indication of the difference between a distributed lock manager and a simple lock daemon such as is used for NFS; and gives no implementation details or theory at all.

What about IBM Coupling Facilities?

[edit]

The page references DEC and Linux lock managers, but not IBM's Coupling Facility (CF) processors (as used for clustering IBM z/OS operating system images) or even Sperry Univac's Record Lock Processors (RLPs). 122.49.200.122 (talk) 12:17, 1 October 2011 (UTC) Adze[reply]

These are not distributed "lock managers", although they aid distributed computing (i.e. processing is parallel, but lock managers are not). --Kubanczyk (talk) 21:56, 1 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
