Article Quality

[edit]

I originally flagged this up for speedy deletion; but on reflection feel that was pretty harsh. It appeared to me that the article had been written to promote the service rather than provide information about it; and that was an assumption of bad faith on my part. The article does, however, need a re-write to bring it up to WP standards - who is eligible, what are the rates, why was it introduced, how many people does it affect? This is still a problem. All the references and external links need to be reviewed - Any that fail the respective policy/guideline (WP:RS or WP:EL) that also appear mostly promotional in nature should be removed right away. --Ronz (talk) 15:43, 18 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Another thing that needs addressing is the article name, relative to its specific content. The term "disabled students allowance" is a broad, descriptive term which applies to any allowance for disabled students, in any country or ogranisation, anywhere - indeed not all such allowances will have that specific name (some do), but will still be described as disabled students allowances, since that's what they are. It happens also to be the specific name of an allowance in the U.K., hence the article. However, obviously this particular word combination is thus not used only in the narrow sense, with the probable exception of within the U.K. itself. That being the case, the question becomes how to modify the title such that it is not misleading to a novice international reader. Probably the easiest would be to change the title to 'Disabled students allowance (U.K.)'. Wotnow (talk) 00:02, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
