Confusion between this and Dinoflagellata

[edit]

I started to attempt to replace the {{taxobox}} on this page with an {{automatic taxobox}}, but ran into problems, and I feel that I'm not qualified to sort them out. So, I'm leaving this note here in the hopes that someone who is notices it:

When I previewed my change, it told me that Dinokaryota was missing a taxonomy template. This is pretty common when changing something to the automated taxobox system, and normally only a minor issue. So, I went to add the template for it. That's when the problems started:

The taxonomy template requires (or at least normally uses, I dunno) both a rank and parent taxon to be specified. This page lists Dinokaryota's rank as a superclass, and its parent to be Dinoflagellata, which it says is a phylum. So, I entered those values, and previewed. The result was that the new taxonomy template showed the ranks of both Dinokaryota and Dinoflagellata as superclasses. I then looked at the page for Dinoflagellata; it is already using the automated taxobox system, and already has an associated taxonomy template. That template lists Dinoflagellata as a superclass, and being in the phylum Myzozoa.

I am not a biologist or anything similar. So, like I said, I don't feel qualified to sort out these discrepancies. - Rwv37 (talk) 23:45, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
