[edit]

The article used to be titled Rape of Dini Haryati but got moved without discussion to Killing of Dini Haryati. I think neither is accurate, and based on similar article titles, 1990 Punggol rape and murder and 2012 Delhi gang rape and murder (established by long standing consensus on this one), I think Dini Haryati rape and murder is both more accurate and according to precedent.

I have WP:BOLDly moved it for now. If anyone objects, the article should be shifted back to Rape of Dini Haryati while we discuss and get consensus. Soni (talk) 02:08, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dini Haryati rape and murderMurder of Dini HaryatiWP:DEATHS. I think it violates the dignity of the victim by being known as a rape victim. Being murdered is enough. The current title may be a violation of WP:NPOV. Theparties (talk) 09:07, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose on grounds given. We have many articles titled like this and I fail to see why this is any worse taste than the rest of them. I fail to see why the title is generally problematic if it’s part of the notability, or that it’s any more violating of her dignity to be known as a rape and murder victim versus just a murder victim. This is how a lot of articles from this region of the world are titled. The rape is part of the event and the notability. However this is titled backwards, it should be Rape and murder of Dini Haryati. However, I also don't care that much, so maybe it would be preferable on concision grounds, but "dignity" is a poor reason here. PARAKANYAA (talk) 21:20, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
