At present it:Dilettante is linked via Wikidata to en:Amateur. This prevents Wikidata from connecting en:Dilettante to it:Dilettante. Ironic, but true. I added Amateur to this page in hopes of answering the implied question of the reader who might assume the word Dilettante came from the Italian. EdJohnston (talk) 18:10, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

OK; an amateur isn't necessarily one with a casual or superficial interest. Amateurs work for love rather than paid assignment, can be highly skilled and informed.
