Ethnicity or citizenships on lede
[edit]Per MOS:CONTEXTBIO this should not be added if the subject has no any relevance with that country, text says that they left their country with further no relevance with past country. Also adding only Kurdish or Turkish is misleading as the subject is both of them explained on body. So per Wikipedia rules this should not be added. Good example of similar talkpage and subject is Uğur Şahin Shadow4dark (talk) 15:10, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
Unclear wording and meaning
[edit]"Yeşilgöz-Zegerius started her political career at the Socialist Party, where Yesilgöz was a board member for the Amersfoort branch of the party. " --shouldn't the second use of her name be a pronoun "she". -- or does it perhaps mean that her father was a board member? I could not access the Dutch newspaper article cited for this fact. --Baekemm (talk) 11:43, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
Incorrect rendering of pronunciation
[edit]The article currently contains:
”Dutch pronunciation: [ˈdilɑn jeːˈʃilɡʏs seːˈɣeːrijʏs];[1]”
This pronunciation rendition:
- is not supported by (the first occurrence in) the reference mentioned, in particular with respect to the e in Yeşilgöz and the first e in Zegerius: the syllables containing them are unstressed, and - according to my (native speaker) observations - at most retain tenseness, but not length;
- is not supported by the rendition Turkish pronunciation: [/jeˈʃil/] for Turkish “yeşil” on https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/yeşil (the first family is apparently of Turkish origin);
- is accurate with respect to the devoicing (in line with Dutch phonology) of the final z in Yeşilgöz;
- is phonetically accurate with respect to the initial s for the Dutch origin (i.e. the second) family name Zegerius, but only because of voicing assimilation caused by the devoiced final z in Yeşilgöz; it is not accurate in standard Dutch pronunciation in careful pronunciation r after a pause or a vowel or a voiced consonant.
I propose:
Dutch pronunciation: [ˈdilɑn jeˈʃilɡʏs seˈɣeːrijʏs], in careful pronunciation Dutch pronunciation: [ˈdilɑn jeˈʃilɡʏs zeˈɣeːrijʏs].
Mrs. Yeşilgöz-Zegerius’ own pronunciation of her family names does not even conform to the rendering currently in the article with respect to the stress in Yeşilgöz, but I am happy to keep the stress indicators where they are for now because of the IPA-rendering on https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/yeşil: not always does a person pronounce her own name according to standard pronunciation rules.Redav (talk) 01:05, 29 November 2023 (UTC) Redav (talk) 01:05, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- The occurrence of “yeşilgöz” in https://www.zargan.com/tr/q/yeşilgöz-ceviri-nedir and https://tureng.com/en/turkish-english/yeşilgöz seems to confirm that the word occurs in Turkish as a compund noun.Redav (talk) 01:18, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
