Article move: digital circuit -> digital electronics
I moved this article from digital circuit to digital electronics to match the name of analogue electronics for the same of consistency. Previously, digital circuit was an article that was merged into (the former) digital electronics. That edit history is now at digital electronics/old. Cburnett 22:44, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- It is usually good to discuss proposed moves first. I'm not familiar with the history, but to me the term "digital electronics" refers to the market for products, such as phones, computers, alarm clocks, etc., rather than to the circuits and techniques that the article seems to be about. I think "digital circuit" was a better title for the existing content. In any case, you can't start with "A digital electronics is..." Dicklyon 04:18, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- Good to discuss first: perhaps. Then there's WP:BB. It made little sense to have analog electronics and digital circuits with analog circuits and digital electronics being redirects. It was inconsistent, so I moved it. I also just haven't gotten around to cleaning it up until just now. I'm not done, but it's a start. Cburnett 03:40, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
Digital electronics are the most common representation of Boolean algebra

References vs. Sources vs. Referenced vs. Citation
I believe that this article should be tagged with {{Unreferenced}}.
However, from the article, Unreferenced, it is unclear to me whether this tag is appropriate because this article does contain references, but the references are not cited. (The template displays "This article does not cite any references or sources." [Emphasis added].)
I have started a discussion in Template_talk:Unreferenced to help clarify this issue.
Clearly, the references provided with this article do not support all of the statements in this article and it is unclear which statements they do support. So which template is appropriate?

- Thanks. I saw that. I'm wondering, however, if {{refimprove}} and {{citations}} actually cover the situation where there are no citations. My concern is also with the instructions for applying the {{Unreferenced}} and {{refimprove}} tags because of the wording of the template texts (referring to "citations"). I'll probably use the multiple tags that you applied in the future where there are references but no citations to those references. Seems to me there should be a single template for when there are no citations and it should be documented with the citation templates. Softtest123 18:58, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
Digital Electronics, Digital Systems, and Category
The article Digital Electronics is a redirect of Digital Systems; the category used for the article is Digital Systems. That category name is vague and had attracted, I think, subcategories that were never intended: Computing, Databases, Digital libraries, for example. Could someone familiar with this article add a summary to the Category page, indicating what kinds of topics would be appropriate subcategories? This article needs to be re-written by an expert in the field
This article contains things which are not directly relevant to digital logic, and many important details are missing, such as equations and graphs. FOR VERIFICATION - Brief note on logic circuit
i think its better to state that a logic circuit is not the one which can implement the logic but can be created to apply logic basing on the characteristics of elements for example as all of we know that water flows from high level surface to lower level surface,basing on this only we engineers can design a plan for a dam or a reservoir. means water doesn't wait because it is a dam or reservoir but it bind to its normal principle that flow is always from high level to low level like in logical circuits also we use normal properties of conductors,semiconductors and others in order to implement our logic. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GOVIND SANGLI (talk • contribs) 08:13, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

Digital Logic
Digital Logic has a redirecting issue, also it is a bit difficult to get any idea for what digital logic actually is from this article. If it's going to be a redirect, there should be a reason that ties it to an appropriate webpage. Manalxx (talk) 22:42, 21 February 2017 (UTC)

- Well, for starters, digital logic redirects to logic gate, and there's no explanation for why Digital Logic, the proper name, should redirect elsewhere. Indeed, is this even a legitimate proper name? Note that in the past, Digital Logic redirected to digital electronics, which is composed of digital circuits. While digital logic is implemented in electronics, one can perform digital logic without using electronics, i.e. with pencil and paper. Then there's the question of what's the difference between digital logic and Boolean logic. Are they the same thing? Why do I need to go to Wiktionary to get a definition of these terms? - Modeling Digital Switching Circuits with Linear Algebra Perhaps linear algebra might be a viable alternative to Boolean algebra for implementing digital logic? Though Boolean algebra is so dominant that, for many, Boolean logic ≡ digital logic. wbm1058 (talk) 18:25, 23 February 2017 (UTC)
- We would only need Digital Logic if we were covering a company or other proper noun with that name. We could ask that this be deleted but the easier thing is to just remove any use of it from the encyclopedia and make it redirect the same as digital logic. Digital technology
Digital technology redirects here. Et4y wants to remove the bold mention of the term because, "Digital technology is not the same as digital electronics." I have reverted because it's going to confuse readers who search for or follow a Digital technology link and don't find mention of it here. I'm not opposed to separating the two topics but we need to create a Digital technology article or find a better place to redirect it before we do. ~Kvng (talk) 13:05, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
- There is certainly merit for creating a self-standing entry digital technology, which was attempted by the user, but it has to be original content and must not be material copied verbatim from another website, which I reverted by restoring the original redirect. - I think et4y has a point though. The early parts of this article have major problems, it blithely jumps in claiming that "vacuum tubes replaced relays for logic operations" without any suggestion of what the relays had been used for, and introduces binary numbering etc. far too early: digital electronics is /not/ all about computers. I've seen a claim that Thomas J Watson Jr had served in big bombers during WW2, and had been exposed to sufficient digital electronics that he could see its application to computers. I think that exploring that sort of thing would be a far more profitable introduction (but I'm afraid that I'm not offering to do it :-) MarkMLl (talk) 21:11, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
