Godfrey of Loon-Heinsberg (died 1347),
[edit]"Diederik and Kunigunde had one son: • Godfrey of Loon-Heinsberg (died 1347), married in 1336 to Mathilde of Guelders (d.1384), daughter of Reginald II, Duke of Guelders, and Sophie Berthout, Lady of Mechelen."
Through related research it would appear that, Loon and Looz being cognate, the Godfrey of Loon-Heinsberg referred to above is the Gottfried von Heinsberg, recorded by the Francopone chronicler Jean LeBel as "le jœune chevalier messire Godefroy de Los, filz au conte Therry de Hinseberge et de Blanghenberge" killed in 1342 during the siege of Algeciras, and described as "el Conde de Lous, que es en Alemana" in the Cronica de Don Alfonso el Onceno. The above date of his demise(1347) is, therefore, probably incorrect. JF42 (talk) 16:40, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
In 1336, Diederik married Kunigunde of the Mark
[edit]"In 1336, Diederik married Kunigunde of the Mark" This statement is inherently improbable given the floreat of their son Gottfried/Godfrey not least his marriage in the same year as that of his parents. These two sources citing documentary evidence both state the date of the marriage as "before 1320"
