Theano Didot
[edit]Could someone include a section on Theano Didot? If you do , could you add a link to the section within Template:Free and open-source typography? -- 12.218.76.10 (talk) 10:23, 28 August 2014 (UTC)
Couple of changes
[edit]I'd just like to warn about a couple of misconceptions people have about Didone fonts:
- Dazzle happens particularly in fonts not intended to be used at small print sizes. Century Schoolbook is an example of a Didone font with the basic Didone structure, but beefed up for use in body text. It's not a flaw in early digital fonts so much as by people using them for a purpose they weren't intended for. (Most Didot digitisations intended for body text cost - often a lot- but Libre Bodoni, Computer Modern and versions of Century Schoolbook are free but in the same basic genre for the experimenter.)
- Frutiger's Didot doesn't quite have optical sizes - just a headline font with no italic. Apparently at the time developing fonts was so time-consuming it was decided not to create a full set of optical sizes, but it was at least considered. Blythwood (talk) 07:21, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
