Problem creating a link.

[edit]

When I attempt to create a link to HMS Diana (1923) in the usual way, the system tells me the page does not exist whether I use http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/HMS_Diana_(1823) or http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/HMS_Diana_%281823%29. I've worked round the problem by putting the URL itself in the text but it looks untidy.Bristol filer (talk) 07:27, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Type [[HMS Diana (1823)]]. The square brackets formulated like that are how you create internal links. And the date is 1823, not 1923. Benea (talk) 07:31, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I've now done that. I had the same problem with some other Wiki links and solved it in the same way. You may be interested to know that I'm about to attempt to create a Wiki page for the clipper Robert Lowe which was built in 1854, converted to a sailing ship and renamed the Iron Cross in 1870 and finally sank in the Baltic in 1891.Bristol filer (talk) 07:45, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming and eventual fate

[edit]

This link states that the Diana was renamed Eliza Penelope and still in use in 1848. Clearly the statement "broken up in 1836" in the opening paragraph is wrong, but, without any clue as to its ultimate fate, should it be removed entirely or reworded on the information from this seemingly reliable source?
