Drastic Reduction of Article

[edit]

I happened across this article and found the state it was in. The vastly extended issue-by-issue plot synopses are NOT in accordance with Wikipedia's style or guidelines for any work of fiction, and particularly not the style for an article on comics. Please refer to other comics articles as examples.

I've reduced the article down to a base introduction stub, but even this is questionable as the article has absolutely no secondary sources to establish notability. While I understand notability is sometimes handwaved for titles published by the larger comics companies, at the very least there should be something outside of the references to the issues themselves. -Markeer 02:55, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The plot for this comic series was on that page ever since it was moved from the Dial H for Hero page. They had to put the info somewhere. Rtkat3 (talk) 3:02, May 27 2013 (UTC)
Well, that's obviously where we disagree. I don't believe that it had to be put anywhere, as the plot synopsis is far, far too extensive for a work of fiction. I'm not going to eliminate the bulk of text again barring input from other editors, but I'll ask you to please refer to this guideline on Wikipedia:How_to_write_a_plot_summary. As examples to follow, at least in terms of length, please glance at the plot summaries of these two featured articles (which I picked for being in similar genres as this topic and of comparable length): Watchmen#Plot or The_Illuminatus!_Trilogy#Plot_summary. You will note that the plot summaries of these considerably more significant works of genre fiction are between 4-5 paragraphs IN TOTAL. Please drastically reduce the plot synopsis section of this article to a simple and terse body of text. At the moment this article is a bad example of one of the things Wikipedia is NOT: a plot-only description of a fictional work. -Markeer 16:40, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
How can we reduce it if there is details on other H-Dials and villains exclusive to this story that don't have pages yet? I hear that we'll be nearing the end of the series soon. Rtkat3 (talk) 10:07, July 12 2013 (UTC)
If individual characters of this comic title become notable, by the standards of Wikipedia's notability guidelines, I'm sure that will happen on it's own. In the meantime a) there has been no basis provided yet for the notability of THIS article and b) "How can we reduce it..." is a very strange question. It should only be a few sentences long, and no longer. Wikipedia is not here for you to give detailed summaries of something. Your lengthy details are the oddity, not my request that you remove them. Please reduce this article to a few sentences describing what the comic is, and remove all the plot details. Those who are interested in finding out details about the plot can purchase and read the comic book.
Seriously, I'm trying to be polite about this, but the plot summary of this article is noticably longer than the plot summary for War and Peace. This is genuinely odd looking on Wikipedia. -Markeer 00:39, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
