Added some info
[edit]Just added a few things in that have been confirmed and popular speculations, unfortunatly I'm not too good at the editing stuff sorry -.-" I will be adding the sources of this information later today. And possible adding some more information I have managed to find. A lot of extra information on this game is being released at the moment. Madmanwashere1 23:21, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, but we're going to have to remove most if not all that stuff you added. I believe you did so in good faith, so no hard feelings, and also thank you for noting it here. But speculation of any sort is simply not what Wikipedia is for. The way to add info is to find articles, press releases or trailers and summarize their contents. --Boradis 00:00, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
[User: Dixikid23]
I just wanted to point out a factual error in the storyline of DMC.
According to the article, DMC 4 is set after DMC 1, 2 and 3. This is a common error, the storyline is actually:
DMC4, DMC1, DMC4, DMC2.
This explains the common question of why the character Lucia is not in the forth instalment.
Changes would be appreciated. I would have changed it myself however the error is in the main bio on the game, which is uneditable.
Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.15.100.254 (talk) 19:47, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
Release Date
[edit]It's probably speculation, but IGN and Gamepro both have January release dates for the game. I'm terrible at editing but I will try to find links to this information so that others may do so. http://gamepro.com/sony/ps3/23116/info.shtml Shinealight 01:17, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
"It was announced in July 2007 that Devil May Cry 4 has been delayed due to problems porting down to the Xbox360." There is absolutely nothing in that news article to suggest that the 360 is the reason for any game delay. Indeed looking around at other news reports on the subject, Capcom gave no reason for the delay. I believe that this line should be changed to reflect that. --82.6.27.114 14:42, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Yet again someone has again put reasons for the delay as "problems porting down to the xbox 360". There is no proof of this at all, at the recent Games Convention in Liepzig journalists reported that the game looked identical on both systems. Can people stop putting this statement in the article as it is not true. --82.6.27.114 09:53, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- It's the same IP address that keeps adding the Xbox port rumor. Is there anything that can be done to block the IP or something? DTwirler 00:01, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Dante As Enemy
[edit]IGN has a ton of new screens up showing the player as Nero fighting Dante as a boss at what appears to be a pretty early stage in the game. I'll find a link. http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/748/748464/imgs_1.html Shinealight 02:20, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
No Vergil
[edit]There's a new interview up on Gamespy with the producer. He says Vergil won't be involved and that Nero and Dante's game will be split 60:40. Again, I suck at editing, so here's hte link. http://uk.ps3.gamespy.com/playstation-3/devil_may_cry_4/809520p1.html Shinealight 15:42, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- Added :D Good job.--Hitamaru 21:55, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- Cool! Thanks. Just want to point out though the bit of contradiction before it-- it says "chances are Vergil" with a ref, and then "no Vergil" with a ref. Shinealight 23:52, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- So who wants to step up and reference that part about the producer not revealing Vergil's role before the game's release being in Game Informer? Shinealight 18:41, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Devil May Cry 4 release date
[edit]Hello Wikipedian fellowers editers,
I'd say that capcom press announcement the release of devil may cry 4 for PS3 version this fall and maybe xbox 360 version next year in spring. Rickengothic1 01:58, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
- Do you have a link to that release or a site summarizing the release? That'd be sweet. However, I was at EBgames the other day and their coming soon list showed DMC4 shipping new year's day. I dunno though.Shinealight 20:04, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
Hello Shinealight, no i don't have a link yet but hopefully capcom announced the official release date of Devil May Cry 4, i read the game informer of july issues it said winter. Rickengothic1 4:33, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
- Cool cool. I'm not worried as much about the article as starting the countdown til when I can play the game, hah.Shinealight 00:33, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
The latest PR release from Capcom states that this game will be released "this winter" on PS3, 360 and PC. Winter would imply after the Holiday season, so after January it would seem. There is no talk of a staggered release date for the game either. The PR also says that DMC4 will be shown on the 360 at the Leipzeig Games Convention (starting Aug 23rd) http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=7407707#post7407707 --82.6.27.114 10:06, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for notify us. Rickengothic 3:02, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
There's a problem with conflicting info for the release dates... This site says Jan 2. Do we reject it because Capcom's Word overrides external sites? --Warp L. Obscura 05:39, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
Does anyone noe wen DMC4 is gonna be out on PC in Australia? cuz the 360 and PS3 versions are out but all the game stores i've checked so far don't hav it on PC yet TranscendantX (talk) 06:18, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:NeroDBAtomic0000.png
[edit]Image:NeroDBAtomic0000.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Devil May Cry Demo
[edit]A demo for DMC4 and Resident Evil 5 is being released with Resident Evil: Extinction on Jan. 2, 2008. [2] I'd add this to the article but I can't figure out how to cite it without stretching the page. Could someone do this? Thanks. Dengarde ► Complaints 18:12, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
- All you need to do is learn how to properly cite a link. I agree that the syntax is needlessly complex and difficult to remember, but you can just copy one of the existing links from the rest of the article and copy/paste the new information over it. I'd do it now, but I'm late for work. --Boradis 02:19, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit]I'd like to put a stop to this. I'll look at the two lead images and see which one is properly cited, and then put that one in place. Then I'll keep putting it back in place if it's removed, and put a warning on the user page of whoever changes it. I'm going to leave the ordering of the platforms the way it is, but will put it back how it currently is whenever it's changed, and also give out warnings. --Boradis 15:28, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- We need one of our Task Force members who's familiar with adding properly cited images to put in a truly fair-use lead image. I don't know if I can use the one I found on Kotaku or not, and I don't want to make a mistake here. --Boradis 15:34, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Dante & Dark Slayer
[edit]PSM3 (UK magazine) has stated in their review that Dante can use the Dark Slayer style. However this is something I've heard second-hand. Does anyone have a copy of the magazine and scanner, or possibly another source so this can be added to the main article? DTwirler (talk) 19:18, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- A spam-evading sock puppeteer, who got banned by Caribbean HQ recently, was making that claim. We need a solidly official source. --Boradis (talk) 01:23, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

POV?
[edit]Hmm, under presentation for Dante his moves are described as fast and stylish, couldn't this be considered a biased POV?--Mr Bucket (talk) 07:51, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

- The whole point of the game is 'fast and SSStylish combat', by design it's what the series does best, so it's not really POV. 70.102.136.132 (talk) 12:45, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

- lol, that's a very screwed up order. Oh and, Vergil/Nelo Angelo died in DMC1 (which is before DMC4), so that's why he's not in this game. Small text mistake
[edit]Hey guys. Just wanted to point out that there's a small error in the Collector's Edition section of this article: "In Europe, a limited edition of Devil May Cry 4 was released..." It's simply an italics tag placed in the wrong spot. (I'm assuming it should be before the DMC4 title and not the limited edition part... doesn't really make sense that way :P)
Nitpicking, granted, but I can't edit it myself so I figured I'd mention it for the sake of you Wiki perfectionists out there (you know who you are). K bye. 167.1.143.100 (talk) 00:12, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

PS3 / Xbox 360 Comparison Video
[edit]I don't have the link on me since I'm editing this from school, but a video has surfaced on the internet doing a side-by-side comparison of the 360 and PS3 versions of DMC4. Though I don't think the PS3 is being displayed at optimal resolution in this video (I currently play my PS3 through an HDMI cable and it looks IDENTICAL to the 360 version, though in this video, the PS3 version looks like crap). Despite the bias, should we reference this in the article? I'll post the link here later Xatticus 08:44, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Red Souls
[edit]In the section about the changes to the shop, it says that "A new currency called Proud Souls is now implemented which are used to buy new abilities while Red Souls are used to buy items." - well, I've got the game on the screen in front of me, and unless the US release is different to the European one, then they're still red orbs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.10.237.3 (talk) 19:15, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- No, skills are bought using a currency that is displayed on top of the health bar while red orbs are only used to buy items, try buying some skills after depleting the ammount of red orbs to note the difference. - Caribbean~H.Q. 19:19, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Sparda, Lady, Nero
[edit]I just corrected some info on the page. 1 - Lady is not related to Sparda in ANY paternal way, the only relationship she shares with him, is that her Ancestor was the woman who'm he Sacrificed in order to seal the Demon Tower/Portal. 2 - While the creators have not said as much, it is cited in the game that Nero is a descendant of Sparda, making him a relative of Dante's. As such, I have commented on his striking resemblence which suggests a close blood relation, eg - Half Brother or Nephew. The Cited source for the relationship is from in game Dialogue - Sanctus says "You did not anticipate another descendant of Sparda's Blood. . . " Baaleos (talk) 12:37, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Nero / Virgil
[edit]Does anyone know if the demon floating behind Nero has any visual/appearance similiarities with Virgils Devil Trigger Appearance? If it did share a visual similarity, would it be fair to say there is a possiblility that the Demon Floating behind Nero 'could' be be Virgils Demonic Spirit? Both Nero and Virgil sought the same thing, and its possible that this is what drew them both together, if not a blood relation that is. Nero sought out power, at the price of his own soul, anything and anyway for him to protect Kyrie, Virgil sought the power of Sparda for more selfish reasons. Also, a more simple comparison is that "Dante's DT is red, Virgils is Blue... and Nero's is also Blue... imagine that." Baaleos (talk) 12:37, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well, Wikipedia is a freely editted encyclopedia that is meant to host the sum of all human knowledge. That being said, Wikipedia's base foundation is facts. You bring up some interesting points, but what it really boils down to is speculation, which (generally) isn't desirable for a Wikipedia article. See WP:OR and WP:NOT. Again, very good observations, just not really "Encyclopedic".--KojiDude (Contributions) 21:07, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Nero - Descendent of Sparda
[edit]Since Nero has been said by Sanctus to be a descendent of Sparda, this would be a cited source to be able to say he is related to Dante. If we speculate that Sanctus was making it up, then that in itself is Original Research. We should take it at face value. If I were to resort to Original Research, I would draw upon the fact that 1. They look similar in appearance. 2. Dante Allows Nero to keep Yamato, when he says "It's gotta stay in the family", a possible clue that maybe Dante is aware of the connection. Although, I do not need to draw on Original Research. Sanctus has basically stated on several occasions that Nero is a descendent of Sparda. I am going to reword the paragraph, this time to say that 'According to Sanctus, Nero is a descendent of Sparda, making him related to Dante'. I dont mean to sound hostile, I do know your edits are in good faith, but I do also believe my own edits are factual. Baaleos (talk) 14:25, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- This is now what the paragraph says - I think this is a good compromise?
Nero is also said to be another descendent of Sparda when the main antagonist of the game, Sanctus, says to Dante, "Unfortunately you had not predicted another descendant of Sparda's blood...". This, should it be true, would signify that a family connection exists between Nero and Dante. The creators of the game have not elaborated on the connection between Sparda and Nero.
Baaleos (talk) 14:28, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
I think the quote should be used as a citation, and then you could just say something like, "Sanctus implies Nero is also a descendant of Sparda." L337 kybldmstr (talk) 10:11, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
PC Demo is out
[edit]dmc4 PC Demo is available on the official website as of now and at other maajor computer game file hosts. its ~800mb and runs very well, seemingly, unlike the DMC3 port, this isnt really to be considered a port this time as it was made natively on a PC and is of a very high standard. might be worth stating somewhere. 86.163.249.54 (talk) 14:34, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Mixed fan reception of DMC 4.
[edit]Although there are a lot of praises for the game, this game did garner a rather potent number of mixed reaction from it's fans. I think this should also be put in the reception area as well. There was one which was small that listed sources talking about the complains of the game's new characters but the original writer took them off.
Here are a list of sources that I placed game critics DarkZero Playtm
Well guess I gotta take care of business.

Takes place AFTER DMC2
[edit]Sorry to say this, but there are several references of dialog which HEAVILY point towards this game taking place after Devil May Cry 2.
For example, After completing Mission 1, Dante leaves and Nero the following statement in response to a statement made about Dante: "Well he DID just get back from Hell".
There are several other references. So I'd like to open up discussion on this and get some opinions before I go editing it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.11.47.134 (talk) 10:18, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
- Capcom says otherwise. - Caribbean~H.Q. 04:57, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
That's a rather vague reference which could lead to anything. The fact is Capcom is STATING that this takes place before two. So that trumps any argument out there. (74.105.159.145 (talk) 18:55, 28 February 2010 (UTC))
