Why does WASt end in lowercase t?
[edit]It's interesting that "WAS" are uppercase but "t" is lowercase. --Quest for Truth (talk) 03:22, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- Wehrmachtauskunftstelle is a compound of three nouns: Wehrmacht-Auskunft-Stelle (roughly: Wehrmacht Information Office). In German, nouns beginning with "St" are traditionally abbreviated "St" rather than "S" as the pronunciation is different (ʃt instead of st). --20% (talk) 00:56, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
Paragraph Inquiries translated
[edit]This paragraph was translated from de.wikipedia: Deutsche Dienststelle#Anfragen to English language. --Roland.h.bueb (talk) 16:34, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
I've taken the liberty of cleaning up the translation and adding a bit of extra information. I hope I've accurately transcribed the tone as well as the content? Any issues, feel free to correct my revision ;-) Kbaughan1 (talk) 12:07, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you Kbaughan1 for your fine corrections. From de.wikipedia:Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt) I will translate additional informations and would be glad, if you could help again. --Roland.h.bueb (talk) 14:00, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
- Kbaughan1, translation from German to English now completed. Good luck and many thanks for your cooperation. --Roland.h.bueb (talk) 20:26, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks Roland.h.bueb. I've done some basic tidying up, but will need to revisit it, when I'm not so busy, to deal with the odd typo and inconsistencies. Any errors on the page are now my fault ;-) Kbaughan1 (talk) 12:02, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Importance Scale
[edit]Suggest high. It is not only of local importance, as inquiries come e. g. from war children out of France, Norway, Denmark, The Netherlands, Finland. On the other hand as time goes on this article will become less important. --Roland.h.bueb (talk) 16:47, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
I'd agree with this. Information provided by this department is often life-changing. Kbaughan1 (talk) 12:03, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Date
[edit]Was Thuringa under the control of the US army on April 12 1945 ? This date appears in the 'Headquarters moved several times' section, para 1. Is this date correct ? RASAM (talk) 19:24, 22 October 2013 (UTC)
