"was born in her hometown" is redundant; here would be a good place to include her birth date
and began working to improve her skills This reads quite vague; presumably she was doing that to some degree throughout her childhood

"recruit" should be linked here as it is in the lede
Mention what year A'ja Wilson was recruited

College career

"recorded a ~~freshman~~ season-high
Swap the clauses in the first phrase of the second paragraph
