short-tailed
[edit]pterodactyl measn "short-tailed"? Sure seems like "finger wing" to me ... Debivort 10:10, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- No, pterodactyloid is shorthand for "short-tailed pterosaur", from the days before cladistics. J. Spencer 15:12, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- However, contrary to "Rhamphorhynchoidea", it is a valid monophyletic group, so it has gained, or perhaps kept, a meaning transcending simple phenetics.--MWAK (talk) 06:50, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
