Clarification of statement

In paragraph 4 of the article is the statement "Derbidae is most diverse in the southeast". In the southeast of what, exactly? Shortly after that is the statement "...the records seem noticeably scarce in some states". What states? I'm assuming this was written with a US-centric mindset, but the taxon is world-wide and the article should be written with that in mind.
