When is a mile and 1/16 the same as a mile?
[edit]The intro says the race:
- is run at one mile (8 furlongs) on the dirt.
Yet the Table of winners at the bottom of the article indicates that the race has been run at 1 & 1/16 mile for the last three years. According to the Table, it was only run at 1 mile in 2006 & 2007. For the preceding 4 years and for its first two years it was run at 1 & 1/16 and had a 1 & 1/8 mile run for 14 years. Also, I believe that this year it was run at Pimlico:
- Joey P Stables’ Baileys Beach pressed the action, drew even and then pulled away to win the $25,000 Deputed Testamony Stakes, the first of nine stakes events on Saturday’s Preakness Day card at Pimlico Race Course.

Race Name & History
[edit]It's implied that the race was named for the horse and that the reason is because it is a famous Maryland horse, but does anyone know who set up the race & decided to call it that? Was it Bonita Farms or the MD Jockey or Racing Association or someone else? Who sponsors it? Ileanadu (talk) 23:06, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
