Base name for dab page?

[edit]

We have [[Department of Conservation]] and that links to List of environmental ministries. And then there's this disambiguation page that uses "(disambiguation)" as its disambiguator. I've made a clumsy attempt to make this more logical but NmWTfs85lXusaybq rightly reverted that citing Wikipedia:MISPLACED. What I tried to address was that [[Department of Conservation]] should, in my view, not redirect to an article. There will be heaps of pages incorrectly being redirected when the real target was one of the organisations that has that title. It's hard to spot when such a redirect is in place. It's much easier to spot when the link points to a disambiguation page.

Thinking about a better way of "fixing" this let me conclude that this disambiguation page should possibly be swapped with [[Department of Conservation]] (via a round-robin). What do others think about that? Schwede66 09:33, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I concur that there's no primary topic and the disambiguation page should take up the base name. I will request a G6 move for it. NmWTfs85lXusaybq (talk) 09:46, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
G6 isn't needed; you can achieve all that with a round-robin swap. See WP:SWAP. But let's wait a wee while and see whether others have a view. Schwede66 09:57, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Actually after I request a G6 move, admins usually do a round-robin swap and retarget the redirect to achieve that, while sometimes they just complete the requested deletion if there's no meaningful history to keep. They only decline it for a controversy or an on-going discussion. I know you can finish the swap as an admin and this kind of move is uncontroversial, but let's wait for another opinion.
In addition, I should have cited Wikipedia:MALPLACED instead for the reversion, because WP:MISPLACED is indeed a broader issue. NmWTfs85lXusaybq (talk) 10:19, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@BD2412, it seems that you moved the disambiguation page here and retargeted the base name to List of environmental ministries to merge contents. Please share you opinion on the primary topic. NmWTfs85lXusaybq (talk) 10:53, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nevertheless, in the rare cases where the set index article is considered the primary topic, it may be named with that term (without further qualification), with the disambiguation page accordingly being titled "YYY (disambiguation)".

Although List of environmental ministries is not a SIA, I'm not sure if this is a similar case. NmWTfs85lXusaybq (talk) 11:11, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Schwede66: It has been 7 days since this discussion began, while nobody else shows their objection including BD2412 who has been pinged. It's time to close and complete the round-robin swap. NmWTfs85lXusaybq (talk) 13:08, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
