When a sentence tries to say too much and goes on and on with clause after clause, the reader forgets what the, uh .. whatchamcallit was about in the first place.

[edit]

"Dennis' best friend, Tommy Anderson and his female nemesis Margaret Wade, played by Billy Booth and Jeannie Russell respectively, were chosen at the suggestion of Jay North, who at the time was only eight years old, to play both characters." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.183.167.58 (talk) 00:35, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I might have chosen "those" instead of "both"; and "Dennis'" instead of "his" (because we passed "Tommy Anderson" en route here). Perhaps reconsider comma usage. Carlm0404 (talk) 00:38, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Confusing passage

[edit]

Stating, as the article does about the pilot episode ("Dennis Goes To The Movies"), that "The final scene where Joey jumps into bed with Dennis was filmed in the summer of 1959...to make the episode fit the half-hour time segment" presents a seeming non-sequitir. How does the scene accomplish the stated objective? It would be useful if the article clarified the correlation, if someone could please do so. 2601:545:8202:4EA5:317D:65D8:82EE:41F4 (talk) 10:49, 28 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Gloria Henry maternity leave

Presumably, Dennis was in each episode. It follows, given Gloria Henry's maternity leave, that there is a question about how many episodes she was in. And was Herbert Anderson absent from any episode? I see: "Dennis Mitchell (Jay North) is the series protagonist (146 episodes, 1959–1963). Henry Mitchell (Herbert Anderson) is Dennis' father and Alice's husband (144 episodes, 1959–1963). Alice Mitchell (Gloria Henry) is Henry Mitchell's wife and Dennis's mother (145 episodes, (1959–1963)." Carlm0404 (talk) 14:10, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Is it the case that Gloria Henry was only in the credits during maternity leave? I think credits-only did happen sometimes with Dick York on "Bewitched" in 1968-1969 season (he would be absent, except maybe for opening appearance in bed, as he had increased trouble with old back injury, and would later be replaced by Dick Sargent in the Darrin role). was Herbert Anderson ever absent?

[edit]

That question came up above in the above item about Gloria Henry maternity leave. Carlm0404 (talk) 00:41, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

officer Mooney first name

[edit]

It says that was sometimes given as Theodore? Theodore J. Mooney happens to be the character name assumed by Gale Gordon when, after his John Wilson stint here on "Dennis the Menace", he joined The Lucy Show as the banker. Carlm0404 (talk) 00:47, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
