A D.cordifolia was encountered in Crater National Park, Herberton Range, approx 20km south of Atherton, QLD, Australia, while photographing a bower of the Golden Bowerbird.
D.cordifolia sapling plant to approximate knee high.
The plant brushed against my lower left leg at the front and flicked around hitting the soft tissue behind the right knee.
The pain was immediate but growing over the next 15 minutes by which time the pain was intense and consistent but with periodic spasms approx 1 minute apart.
The encounter began on December 1st, ‘23. Duration to Feb ‘24 but still imperfect, by March minor discomfort still remains from embedded hairs but neurotoxin has ceased. All efforts to remove spines continued daily. All methods attempted. No significant method was found. The greatest success was a needle and high quality tweezers to extract individual trichomes/needle hairs.
Relative comfort and sleep was restored by mid February ‘24. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ptilorissmith (talk • contribs) 22:41, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
