merge from "Tongans"

Is there anything else we can say about "tongans" as an ethnic group, not just as people who live on tonga?Lisamh 15:52, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

  • Provided there is an article for Samoan people, and other populations then there should be one for Tongan people. It seems that we are short of sociology for the article though. This article could be padded out more, definitely. For example information on the effects of large scale conversion to Christianity has had on the culture; most specifically Methodism and the Free Wesleyan Church have had. It's just a case of whether we can find a champion for the cause. -- Greaser 03:22, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
    • I've given it some more careful consideration - Tongan people and the demographics of Tonga cannot be merged. That would imply that all people living in Tonga, are Tongans; and to a lesser degree that all Tongans live in Tonga. Both of these are incorrect assumptions which should not be propagated through such an action. -- Greaser 05:15, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

This entire article is just copy-pasted from CIA world factbook... I get it was a while ago that the merge with Tonga was suggested, but it doesn't seem like anything has happened to this article since then. 75.43.131.18 (talk) 01:30, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
