Delta is listed as "continentally significant" bird migration habitat, particularly Boundary Bay and other shoreline areas such as Westham Island and the Reifel Wildfowl Refuge. Also, in the winter there are typically 140+ species of birds staying in the area, which is the highest in Canada. The concentration of wintering raptors (hawks/eagles/falcons, etc) is also the highest in Canada. There should probably be a section on the related environmental value of the area, but I don't have any references handy -Doviende (talk) 05:37, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Ok, found something from Bird Studies Canada: "Boundary Bay, Roberts Bank and Sturgeon Bank form one of the richest and most important ecosystems for migrant and wintering waterbirds in Canada." - http://www.bsc-eoc.org/iba/site.jsp?siteID=BC017 -Doviende (talk) 05:48, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
