What exactly is a Delaney card?

[edit]

Sure, this article explains how they're arranged and who they're used by, but it fails to describe what they were used for. Would someone with more information on the subject please add this into the article? --Spring Rubber 01:25, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is card still in use?

[edit]

There seems to be a question out there that the Delaney Card has been eliminated from the NY school system. Anyone with reliable info on this please chime in. -- stoshmaster (talk) 00:02, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A photo of the visual seating plan would be nice

[edit]

If the system has been discontinued then it's even more important. Imagine Reason (talk) 21:07, 25 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The cards were in use well before 1950. I started high school in 1944 and they were not new then. As far as I know, they had two main purposes: 1) to track attendance and 2) to give the instructor a visual layout of the class members, making it easy to identify each student by name.
