Query re geological origins

[edit]

It is said in the current text that the area derives from outwash from a great glacial lake which existed in west Cheshire (refs: Husain). I know of no evidence that such a lake existed. Certainly glacial outwash - principally sand - underlies the Delamere area, having likely originated from the west and travelled through the Mouldsworth Gap. The more recent BGS memoirs do not refer to a glacial lake though older memoirs often contain suggestions of a multiplicty of glacial lakes in parts of England which subseqnt research has failed to substantiate. Two key pieces of evidence which are often lacking are any signs of lake sediments or shorelines. cheers Geopersona (talk) 15:37, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dimensions

[edit]

We have 'the forest is hectares/acres' and then 'the old forest was miles2/km2'. Seems a bit inconsistent - which one should be used? geeoharee (talk) 16:03, 27 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wood/Woodland

[edit]

I changed the link to "wood" in the introduction so that it points to the "woodland" article instead of the article about wood as a material.86.151.227.17 (talk) 17:49, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
