0.0.0.0 used to redirect to loopback, but that article does not even mention 0.0.0.0. Someone who knows something about the 0.0.0.0 IP address and the default route/network should perhaps decide if the text from an earlier version of the 0.0.0.0 page (pasted below) is correct and should be incorporated into this article:

0.0.0.0 is an IP in the IPv4 scheme and may refer to:

  • localhost when given as a source address
  • "all interfaces" when given as the bind address for a listening internet socket
  • "invalid host" otherwise
