Review
[edit]- You need a little lead. See WP:LEAD - it has helpful hints on how to write leads.
- More of your information needs to be sourced to reliable sources. I have added a few fact tags and made inline citations for the citations that were there per WP:CITE.
- I would use the reviews you have under "External links" to create a section on "Big Sur Inn today" or something like that.
- Might you use the new photo book to expand the article somewhat? That way you could several sections: "History", "Heyday" and "Big Sur Inn today" or some such arrangement.
- In the late 1920's Helmuth Deetjen fled Norway - can you say anything about Deetjen? who was he? also, why was he fleeing?
- at first they were forced to live in tents, but eventually they built a small house and a big barn - why did they live in tents?
- They proceeded to build small cottages in the Norwegian style and a restaurant known for its excellent food in the canyon. - What is the Norwegian style? When was this built?
- The hotel has been very popular ever since for its rustic charms and natural settings. - What hotel? When was it built? The article doesn't mention the building of a hotel. It just appears. :)
- The building has many historic features, including glass Helmuth made himself in King City and brought over the mountains to Big Sur by mule. - What's the appropriate verb here? Did he "blow" the glass? I'm not sure. Also, what mountains?
- One image at the moment - two is overpowering - save the other until the article is longer. (Also images are supposed to be left at their default size unless absolutely necessary. Something about computers I don't understand. See WP:IMAGE.)
- You need a thorough fair use rationale for the book cover. The instructions are on the tag on the image itself.
If you have any questions about my comments, let me know. This article is a good start, but more can be added. Awadewit | talk 19:38, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
- As someone who doesn't know the area, I still don't get a good feeling for why I need to know about this place. The US Historic Monument thing tells me that it must be notable for something, but I don't understand why. FlagSteward 11:12, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Redirect
[edit]I created the redirect Big Sur Inn. I spent many years in and around Big Sur, and always knew this place by the simple name of Big Sur Inn, which is what the signage on the road says. - Crockspot 17:39, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
