Mishaal al-Tammo

[edit]

Could you add that he was Kurdish? That's one of the possible reasons behinds his death. -- Al™ 01:47, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Our policy is to report nationality, not ethnicity (unless it is the defining reason for notability). WWGB (talk) 02:00, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

 Done. WWGB (talk) 06:25, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There was some earlier confusion about the date of death being 8th or 9th. In such cases, the death is reported against the date of announcement (12th). It now seems that the agreed date is the 8th. WWGB (talk) 22:29, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Theron Brison - to be changed ASAP

[edit]

I request that the link and information for Theron Brison's death, age 48, is changed. Reports established his death was October 14th, at about 1a.m. Also, the article referenced does not discuss his identity as a musician, which is thoroughly discussed in this article. Please replace the link so that readers have a chance to find out about the famous bassist who had hidden in costume. This is important because this is the only article identifying Theron and his moniker as Thee Ram Jam, his stage name under Bootsy Collin's Bootzilla Productions. No other article identifies him as a musician. Please change this as soon as possible. Thank you. http://funkmusicnews.wordpress.com/2011/10/14/thee-ram-murdered-details-pending/

Wordpress is a blog; bloga are not regarded as reliable sources. WWGB (talk) 04:34, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It seems the main reason for this request is because the reference doesn't give a biography. A better solution to the problem would be if the OP created an article at Theron Brison. Then people looking for more information could follow that link, rather than the reference. Anyway, the source states "Friday morning death", so I'll move it to the 14th. ALJAZEERA says so .....--Stemoc (talk) 12:30, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
We've got some reports that he's injured, but still alive, so we need to clarify. Akjar13 (talk) 12:32, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Looks dead to me ...--Stemoc (talk) 12:38, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia admins won't allow adding it unless an AMERICAN website says he is dead......yes wikipedia osama is really dead....atleast we have a pic to prove gaddafi's death..--Stemoc (talk) 12:59, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If the BBC confirms his death it'll be good enough. Nothing wrong with the moderately biased British press. Akjar13 (talk) 13:04, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The entry for Colonel Gadaffi needs re-writing to remove the emotive and nonsensical language. He was shot, apparently after surrendering. To call this 'wounds sustained from capture' is ridiculous. The word 'dictator' is also pov, given the complex devolution of power in Gadaffi's Libya. It's sufficient to say something like this: "Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi, 69, leader of Libya (1969–2011), gunshot."182.240.33.180 (talk) 14:59, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The way it is phrased "Libyan Dictator" means that he was a dictator of Libya, and allows for the fact that he wasn't at his death. Akjar13 (talk) 15:32, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Should he be called by his pen name, or his real name(Sokichi Saito) with a mention of the pen name? Not really sure on the convention for this so I'm just bringing this up. Akjar13 (talk) 15:18, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The most common name for a person should be used (WP:COMMONNAME). In this case I would assume that to be his pen name. WWGB (talk) 23:15, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Wasn't a Sudanese born person close to Muammar Gaddafi shot to death on October 20 along with Gaddafi? Where is his entry? B-Machine (talk) 17:05, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
