I only look at this list occasionally but today I found two instances where it states the individual died by suicide but this is not confirmed in the reference. Please be vigilant and not let assumptions take the place of a medical report, published in a reliable source or a public disclosure by family. This is always one of the top viewed articles on the project and misinformation can easily spread. These speculations are most common for individuals who are in sports, entertainment or popular culture. Thanks. LizRead!Talk!21:06, 28 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
A medical report is not always necessary, as reliable family sources will often provide anecdotal information indicating the cause. Where this is not forthcoming, medical reports or other official announcements through a reliable source should certainly need to be available before a cause is inserted here. Jens Bullerjahn wasn't just a member of the state Parliament of Saxony-Anhalt, but the state's Minister of Finance, from 2006 to 2016, and influential even. That was removed with the edit summary "office needs to have an article". Why would that be? Minister of Finance of Saxony-Anhalt would by understood as an important function without an article. Am I forced to create a stub to comply with a formalism? Would an interlanguage link be tolerated? -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:52, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Either the institution (in this case the ministry) or the office itself must have an English article; therefore, an interlanguage link is not sufficient. Regarding your first question, this list needs objective limitations. Otherwise, virtually every politican/diplomat/jurist/etc. could have three offices listed here. For example, Jens Bullerjahn was also the vice-minister-president of Saxony-Anhalt. Renewal6 (talk) 14:53, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Vice-Minister-President - they had five at the time - is of no consequence, but his strict savings as finance minister had consequences for the state, and Germany, covered in a long article in the FAZ. Just member of parliament is too weak. So you do force me to write that article. But I'll travel over the next days, and then, nobody will care. It just makes no sense to me not to say Minister of Finance of Saxony Anhalt, sorry. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:04, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No-one forces anyone to do anything. As an editor you make your choices as to what you do as an editor. Standing consensus is what we all try to abide by here - on which subject please note that inter-language links currently only have agreement for use with subject name entries not currently in receipt of an English language article. Supporting information doesn't currently have that agreement. Thanks. Ref(chew)(do)00:00, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
English isn't my first language, sorry, and my precision doesn't get better when it's late at night and I'm angry. You are right, I am not forced. I make the decision - now that I am on a train with a working connection, which doesn't always happen - to translate that article, setting all other projects aside, because I feel strongly that this person should appear as finance minister, not just member of parliament. - I believe, though, that every reader would understand finance minister without a link, so I believe the rule requesting a link is not a good rule. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:15, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
