Nicholas Tonti-Filippini

[edit]

Please change this:

(8th of November) "Nicholas Tonti-Filippini, 56, Australian anti-euthanasia activist, chronic auto-immune disease." To this:

(7th of November) "Nicholas Tonti-Filippini, 58, Australian philosopher and bioethicist." Nicholas actually died on the 7th of November at the age of 58 and published on so much more than just euthanasia. Cause of death has not been confirmed. Family's official statement: [1]

 Done. WWGB (talk) 12:23, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Still not done. He died at age 58 and cause of death not confirmed. Please change this:

"Nicholas Tonti-Filippini, 56, Australian philosopher and bioethicist, chronic auto-immune disease."

To this: "Nicholas Tonti-Filippini, 58, Australian philosopher and bioethicist."

 Done Epicgenius (talk) 20:57, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

STILL not done. He died at age 58 (not 56) and cause of death has not been confirmed. Please change this:

"Nicholas Tonti-Filippini, 56, Australian philosopher and bioethicist, pancreatic complication."

To this: "Nicholas Tonti-Filippini, 58, Australian philosopher and bioethicist."

Oridley (talk) 03:24, 14 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: What source are you going with for 58? this says 56. And also says pancreatic complication. I'm not entirely sure he should be on this list in any case with a redlink. Cannolis (talk) 03:36, 14 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That link references an article printed in the The Age newspaper which is not cited and, frankly, is poorly written in addition to being partially fabricated. This is the family's official statement which states his age as 58 (he was born in 1956) and does not disclose any details about the nature of his death. A full article on the notable person is on its way.

Please change this:

"Nicholas Tonti-Filippini, 56, Australian philosopher and bioethicist, pancreatic complication."

To this: "Nicholas Tonti-Filippini, 58, Australian philosopher and bioethicist.[2]"

Oridley (talk) 08:11, 14 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

the family's statement on that website does not say he was born in 1956 or that he is 58. If you have another source for the different age, cite it. Cannolis (talk) 02:07, 17 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Last Friday, 7 November, renowned Catholic ethicist Nicholas Tonti-Filippini died in Melbourne, aged 58, after living for nearly four decades with chronic auto-immune disease." [3] Cause of death details have not been released.

Please change this:

"Nicholas Tonti-Filippini, 56, Australian philosopher and bioethicist, pancreatic complication."

To this: "Nicholas Tonti-Filippini, 58, Australian philosopher and bioethicist.[4]" Oridley (talk) 07:32, 19 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. How is this admissible? First off, the article Clive Palmer (musician) gives no source at all for the alleged death date. It is just inserted into the article. Therefore, THIS article cannot take that one into consideration when posting its own details on the subject. The source quoted here (and the ONLY internet source I discovered on searching) is clearly a blog. Furthermore, there is no mention of the 23rd as the date of death. The blog date is today's date, the 24th of November. IF you accept the dubious source for the time being (discounting any hearsay as "original research"), surely the entry can only be posted in the '24th' section, as "death announced on this date". How many bare assumptions are allowed (and by whom) in the compilation of this article? I would appreciate a proper rationale to support the entry as it stands at the time I post this comment. Thanks. 86.112.58.46 (talk) 4:45 pm, 24 November 2014, Monday (12 days ago) (UTC−5)

I agree that we should make every effort to find a better source, and if you'd rather remove it from the listing until we get one, feel free. But, the fact is that Clive Palmer died on 23 November, and eventually I'm sure we'll reflect that. Ghmyrtle (talk) 5:05 pm, 24 November 2014, Monday (12 days ago) (UTC−5)
The fact "is currently unavailable". At least to me. InedibleHulk (talk) 02:54, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Please see my note about "original research", Ghmyrtle. We work to these rules for a reason. Facebook needs no bad mouthing from me, but it is what it is, in terms of what we do here. Thanks again. 86.112.58.46 (talk) 1:56 am, 25 November 2014, Tuesday (12 days ago) (UTC−5)
Now reinstating with this ref. Ghmyrtle (talk) 9:27 am, 25 November 2014, Tuesday (12 days ago) (UTC−5)
Except you left off the "l" in ".html".  Done At last! Ref (chew)(do) 10:07 am, 25 November 2014, Tuesday (12 days ago) (UTC−5)
I hereby promide never to make a typo gain. Ghmyrtle (talk) 10:15 am, 25 November 2014, Tuesday (12 days ago) (UTC−5)
I also hereby promise, if he does so, to never spank him so hard agane. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 10:27 am, 25 November 2014, Tuesday (12 days ago) (UTC−5)
I also "promide" (sic) not to be so anal about things like typos a (such as that one) gain, and resolve to conquer my obsessive compulsive disorder with a detailed and ordered analysis of my condition, listed from A section to Z section in duplicate, color-coded. 86.112.58.46 (talk) 5:29 pm, 25 November 2014, Tuesday (11 days ago) (UTC−5)

"Cyclists"

[edit]

Hi. There are (currently) three racing cyclists whose deaths have been featured in this article for this month - a Spanish one, a Belgian one and a German one. These racing cyclists are obviously notable for racing their cycles, in a race. Not just cycling along a road, as a "cyclist" would do. There is no basic notability for being able to ride a bicycle per se - there IS, as highlighted above, unlimited potential for notability to be gained by racing one.

Currently, only one of the three "cyclists" is correctly and notably described as a "raciing cyclist" (I believe it is the Spaniard). I would respectfully suggest that, in order to emphasise the notability to be found in their respective articles by following their Wikilinks, they should all be described as "racing cyclists", and not just "cyclists". Hope you agree, and thanks. 86.112.58.46 (talk) 21:22, 27 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I certainly agree. We don't list racing drivers as "drivers", and racing cyclists should be treated in the same way. Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:43, 27 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I also agree strongly.  Done Ref (chew)(do) 22:54, 27 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Er - why was this carried over from November? There appears to be no rationale for this. Thanks. Ref (chew)(do) 22:16, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please add Hungarian lawyer György Bárándy. He died on November 27 at the age of 95.

(Addendum: as you can glean from the URL of the source above, in Hungarian form, the surname precedes the given name i.e. Bárándy György - yet it still requires to be listed under "B" and not "G" on the given date, which is what I've done. Please note this when thinking of attempting a "correction" to the entry!) Ref (chew)(do) 22:59, 27 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hungarians use Western name order in foreign lands. So his name is György Bárándy in English. --84.236.7.128 (talk) 00:10, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for clarifying that, 84.236.7.128, and thanks to the editor who made the necessary further edit to the entry. Ref (chew)(do) 07:10, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
