I think this entry definitely requires discussion or removal from page. Ref (chew)(do) 17:12, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
- With a deletion history like that, I would remove the death listing immediately. WWGB (talk) 04:27, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
- What makes you think that it's the same Tariq Shah? The deleted articles are anywhere from four to thirteen years old, and there seem to be a number of Tariq Shahs. The one you're concerned about appears to be a Pakistani TV producer, while this one is an Indian actor and film director. I'd give it the usual month. Editrite! (talk) 10:52, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- That's why nothing's been done about it. It's merely highlighting "a page with this title", which has to be navigated by anyone wishing to use that exact article title when creating new. Ref (chew)(do) 12:33, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- Same or different, a notable one could be created for our entry, then future similar names can be disambiguated. (Note the notable part.) Wyliepedia @ 00:56, 7 April 2021 (UTC)

Presidential bids are notable, especially when they become a major party's nominee
[edit]So I'm wondering why Mondale's 1984 campaign for president would not warrant notability on his entry? J390 (talk) 02:02, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
- Names like Mondale would have a bloated entry as is, it’s really not prudent to list if they were a nominee for Presidency if they didn’t win. We didn’t do it with John McCain either. Rusted AutoParts 02:14, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
- Nominations in any field are not something for inclusion into a list of one-line succinct descriptions such as ours. In acting, should Oscar or Emmy award nominees have each year's nominations listed too? No. Ref (chew)(do) 07:09, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
- The deceased are limited to 3 credits. If you want to add one, you need to delete another. WWGB (talk) 11:48, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
- I'm just saying that's what a lot of people would be most well known for. J390 (talk) 15:55, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
- His vice presidency, senatorship and diplomacy is just more notable to meet the 3 credits. Rusted AutoParts 15:58, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

- Ross Perot's candidacy got a mention upon his death. I don't support presidential runner-ups, just counterpointing. Wyliepedia @ 19:14, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

Idriss Déby death date
[edit]Our current cited source for the article, which is US News and mostly focuses around who the militant group who killed him are, states that he died on Monday. However, his wiki article states 20 April, using sources like Al-Jazeera and Guardian which say that the military announced his death on Tuesday. I've reverted edits swapping day to 20, based on the US News source, but am I correct in doing so, or should it be 20 April? Yoshi876 (talk) 09:54, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
- In their most recent article on him (about his funeral within an hour ago this timestamp), the BBC says "The army says President Déby died in a battle with a dissident army rebel group, called Fact, in the country's north on Tuesday." That's the 20th. If Al-Jazeera and the Guardian also both say Tuesday (20th), what would make anyone think it was a day earlier? Same day reporting is all too common now. On that basis, I would say the 20th is correct, as it stands at the moment. Ref (chew)(do) 12:16, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
Zhang Enhua cause of death
[edit]This source https://news.cgtn.com/news/2021-04-29/Former-Chinese-national-team-footballer-Zhang-Enhua-dies-at-48-ZRnMsG8xXi/index.html says the the cause of death was related to alcohol, which I added twice but it was deleted both times because to was to "unspecific". I don't see how it's more unspecific then for example "Complications from illness X". There are not to many causes to chhose from but I don't understand what's wrong with writing "Alcohol-related causes" or "Complications from alcohol".DrKilleMoff (talk) 20:40, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- It's not specific. See List of deaths through alcohol. Wyliepedia @ 21:39, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- On a separate issue, Cgtn.com is a deprecated source, as listed at WP:DEPSOURCES. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 21:47, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- I'd say that the deprecated source issue is integral to this discussion, not separate. Alcohol-related causes are, by description, not specific enough. Similar to my removal of "murdered" as a cause from other entries, it does not tell us enough, and risks being dismissed as speculation. Ref (chew)(do) 05:53, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
- Hos is it more unspecific then for example "Complications from diabetes"~?. That's not very specific either.DrKilleMoff (talk) 08:49, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

- @CAWylie: On that list you linked I see "Alcohol-related issuses" as CoD on three persons. How is that more specific? DrKilleMoff (talk) 08:54, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
- Those three died in the years 1141, 1821, and 1866, respectively, with only one suitably sourced in their articles. Wyliepedia @ 10:56, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
- Why does it matter which year they died? DrKilleMoff (talk) 10:58, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

- "Related to alcohol" is way too vague for me. Did he have cirrhosis? Drink methylated spirits? Set himself on fire with brandy? Fall into a beer vat? The list is endless. WWGB (talk) 11:32, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
- How is it more vague then complications from diabetes? That doesn't specify the exact cause of death either. Suicide is accepted as cause even without the method. Furthermore List of deaths through alcohol lists three people whose CoD only are given as "alcohol-related issues".DrKilleMoff (talk) 13:49, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
- The "complications" mechanism is followed by a bona fide disease or ailment, "diabetes", "COVID-19" and "dementia" being three oft-used ones. Do you propose the wording then to be "complications from alcohol"? Probably not. You can't make it "complications from alcohol abuse" - that's still too non-specific. Ref (chew)(do) 15:40, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
- Complications from alcohol abuse suits just fine IMO. Not more unspecific then suicide without method. DrKilleMoff (talk) 15:57, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
