Simply this. Why is Hector Hatch included in the list at all if there is not a single instance of proof by way of reference, even a lowly one such as a forum or blog? Merely posting it then asking for a citation is decidedly dangerous, in that offence may well be caused if it turns out to be an untrue rumour. Consider removing the entry. 86.113.155.111 (talk) 14:41, 15 April 2016 (UTC)
- (I appreciate that his article "claims" his death, but, again, that does not back itself up with a source.) 86.113.155.111 (talk) 14:45, 15 April 2016 (UTC)

- Yes our local media sucks, nothing I can do about that..but if we only go by the local media, we will never rightfully tagged the deceased on wikipedia...Hector is Dead.--Stemoc 09:53, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
- I am sorry that his death is not being reported in some official way either locally or nationally. It might have something to do with his level of notability in the eyes of his countrymen or the world. To lose your Olympic boxing bout at the first hurdle to the eventual champion does not signify an outstanding act for which widespread fame then duly follows. Fairly unremarkable careers in politics afterwards never form the basis of great notability either. I am not deriding Hector, just putting a few pointers forwards as to why I think he has so unfortunately been ignored. I maintain, though, that the act of omission in this list remains the correct one, until such time as some branch of the media redresses the balance with a report. If only we took facsimile images as proof, we would have been okay with the link you posted! 86.113.155.111 (talk) 11:40, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
- Thats why I didn't bother to add it in, an olympic boxer and former cabinet minister of a small nation is not notable enough for Deaths in 2016 page..--Stemoc 12:03, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
- "But notable enough for a Wikipedia article." Paradox. Thanks. 86.113.155.111 (talk) 13:47, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

This is the deaths page, where the entries can be confirmed by verifiable links and not local printed newspapers. It's not about "notability", though some consider Olympic participation as not being notable. If you're adamant about his inclusion here, try to find some online sources. — Wyliepedia 04:21, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
- I don't care, btw, he was a cabinet minister for a while after the 2000 coup and not just Olympic participation ...2 other notable people died in Fiji this week, i listed (Apted) only one, the other being a former government minister as well but who cares..btw, I knew Hector personally and this is a disgrace both on the part of local media and wikipedia..--Stemoc 04:56, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is not disgraced. We respond to verifiable sources. If he was not sufficiently known, or has no reliable sources, that ain't our fault. WWGB (talk) 05:41, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
- Nope, WP can't help it if certain news agencies are stuck in the Stone Age. — Wyliepedia 10:33, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
Nationality Incorrect-- request edit
[edit]The statement under Saul Same's mention cannot exist. You cannot be born in a place that does not exist. This is a request for someone to change it to "Israeli-born American". Jonahpoke92 (talk) 00:53, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
- ...but he was born in 1919, and Israel didn't exist until 1947. The source reads that he was "born in British-controlled Palestine in 1919, and migrated to Western Australia as a five-year-old boy." So I guess I'm not sure what the right answer is, but I don't think it's Israel. Skudrafan1 (talk) 01:20, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
"Palestinian-born American". Should it not be "British Mandate of Palestinian-born American"? Or "British Mandate of Palestine-born American"? Jonahpoke92 (talk) 08:51, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
- No matter what, he was an Australian, not an American. Skudrafan1 (talk) 12:26, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
- Depends. Should Karl-Heinz von Hassel be described as a "Nazi German"? InedibleHulk (talk) 08:48, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
Agreed. Jonahpoke92 (talk) 20:29, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
- The article for Mandatory Palestine says it didn't officially become a British protectorate until 1920. The plot thickens. Skudrafan1 (talk) 20:35, 17 April 2016 (UTC)

You have Chyna's death date wrong. She was found dead on the night of April 20th, so her death couldn't have possibly been announced on the 19th. She was still believed alive at that point.
68.0.254.236 (talk) 19:39, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
- Not done: I stipulated in an edit summary why I moved it down one. She's believed to have been dead a least "a day or two". Since its not confirmed exactly what day (she was alive the 17th and dead by at least the 19th), I put on the 19th, with a death announced on this date tag. A source can be found in said edit summary. Rusted AutoParts 19:43, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
- That somehow makes less sense than if it was Sunday or Monday, it must not be Sunday. InedibleHulk (talk) 17:24, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
- Added the reference that shows 18th as most likely date since she posted on Twitter Monday morning, and coroner confirms Monday among the possible death dates. DAOTD all the announcements were on the 20th since that's the date she was found. For now it should be 18th, per the references, or 20th per DAOTD. — Bill W. Philip Kives
[edit]... is now described as a "pitchman" - a word unknown to anyone in the UK (at least), which redirects to hawker (trade) - "a vendor of merchandise that can be easily transported; the term is roughly synonymous with peddler or costermonger." How can that conceivably be a better description of the founder of K-Tel than "entrepreneur"? The word "entrepreneur" occurs in the introduction of his article - "pitchman" does not. Ghmyrtle (talk) 18:10, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
- I agree and changed it to "marketing entrepreneur". While he initially traveled hawking his goods, he didn't sell them on a street corner or in a market square. — Wyliepedia 18:58, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, he did. And on the Atlantic City boardwalk ("He soon became a Paganini of pitchmen, hawking products at fairs throughout Canada and the United States."). Even if he hadn't, the word applies to infomercial types, as well. Billy Mays, Ron Popeil and Vince Offer are examples of that. InedibleHulk (talk) 19:09, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
- An entrepreneur is just someone who starts a business. Some clean pools, some write novels, some sell trinkets. When you sell trinkets just like this, you're a pitchman. Kives' Wiki article doesn't introduce him as such, but many reliable sources do. Even British. When a job description is that common and accurate, it seems like the one to use. Do notable vandals exist?
[edit]Daniel Berrigan was known for his vandalism. It occured over decades, and led to well-publicized trials, convictions, a fleeing, a capture and an imprisonment. Yet three different editors chose to omit that key role.
We don't pretend Moreese Bickham's murder conviction was just part of his death penalty activism, or that fraud just comes with being a Walmart executive. So why now? Makes no sense. Should be fixed so it does, but I'm done reverting. If most of us are cool with the nonsense way, I'll at least pretend to accept that I'm the crazy one. InedibleHulk (talk) 03:56, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
- Vandalism isn't on the same scale as murder or fraud. It's more or less a nuisance as opposed to the sentence of taking a life or embezzling funds. Rusted AutoParts 06:00, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
- If he were into spraypainting walls or breaking windows, I'd agree. But destroying draft records affected the whole draft before 1970, as well as cost the office money. Kids who would have gone to war didn't, and some went sooner. The Walmart guy only took money and only got house arrest (some of it outside of his house), while Berrigan got three years in actual prison, for the napalm thing. No clue how many combined days he was jailed for the blood and hammer things, but more than a few. Relatively serious, according to judges.
- More importantly, how many times was he in the papers for priest, poet or non-destructive activism? It was almost always for vandalism. Readers here could click the links to learn why he was actually famous, but might not bother if they only see the relatively mundane jobs. InedibleHulk (talk) 08:46, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
- Activism has many forms. Some choose peaceful protesting, other destructive or violent forms. It's still activism. All his vandalism had a political agenda, which makes it a lesser part of his bigger role as an activist. "Was known for" has been proved an invalid point here, as people who were mainly (or only) known for being someone's spouse or relative can't be listed as that. Nukualofa (talk) 09:45, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
