Cynthia Lennon ridiculousness

[edit]

What is she known for? Being married to John Lennon. What did she write about? Being married to John Lennon. What can you absolutely not say on this page? That she was married to John Lennon. Being married to John Lennon is her only claim to fame. It's about time we acknowledge that being married/related to the right individual sometimes makes you notable. It's just silly listing her as an author. Nukualofa (talk) 09:31, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, sometimes we need to make exceptions. This isn't some redlink grasping at straws, she has a large, long-standing article, based solely on her inherited notability. An unavoidable part of The Beatles being bigger than Jesus, and John Lennon being bigger than The Beatles. About 99% of their songs have articles. Had most of those songs been recorded and released by anyone else, they'd be black or red. That's just the world we live in, and these are the hands we're given. InedibleHulk (talk) 10:20, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose that's just the way that page works. Recently, I added Buddy Elias to the list with the remark "cousin of Anne Frank", and that part was removed with a similar summary (notability can't be inherited). Now, Buddy Elias was an actor in his own right, and of course he was president of the Anne Frank Fonds (though that part got removed later too), but virtually every headline about his death wrote he had been AF's last surviving close relative, and every interview I found with Buddy Elias also talked about his relationship with and memories of his cousin Anne. I too don't think this rule regarding notability needs to be enforced that rigidly in every single case on this page, but I'm assuming this was defined somewhere. Maybe more experienced editors of this page can explain. ---Sluzzelin talk 10:39, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Please note that WP:Notability is not inherited is not a policy, or even a guideline - it is just the opinion of some editors which appears in the essay Wikipedia:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions. This is not a deletion discussion - Cynthia Lennon has her own article, and no-one is suggesting deleting it - in fact it is a GA. As the opinion only relates to deletion discussions, it has no standing, or relevance, about the words used to describe people on this list. - Arjayay (talk) 11:08, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I was just about to raise a stink about this. Just call Lennon's wife, not an "author" which is really stretching it Nohomersryan (talk) 11:45, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Through this Wikipedia article, I have just learned of her death today, 4 weeks after the fact. Yes, she is notable for having been married to John Lennon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.20 (talk) 22:06, 29 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If marriage to a Beatle is all that is necessary for notability, why is there no article on Nancy Shevell? WWGB (talk) 22:17, 29 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dick Dearden

[edit]

Could some-one check the death references on Dick Dearden as I can't get them to work. --Racklever (talk) 21:17, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

7th Earl of Leicester

[edit]

The page ABOUT the earl doesn't note it, there is NOTHING anywhere else about him dying, and the source is, to say the least, somewhat less than trustworthy(as in, what the hell page is that?) So...perhaps it should be removed for the time being? 85.229.59.77 (talk) 20:34, 25 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure what source you were looking at Haven't heard of Lynn News either, but this one looks legit. And ITV is established. InedibleHulk (talk) 20:55, 25 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Was looking at The Times, BBC and other such sources. Nothing. But, I'll have to admit that the other sources given are established enough to be believable. So, no more needs said. 85.229.59.77 (talk) 14:25, 26 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sawyer Sweeten

[edit]

I note that the link that when you clink on the link for Sawyer Sweeten's name, you are not taken to a biographical entry but to the "Everybody Loves Raymond" page. What's the correct procedure with situations such as this? David French (talk) 03:35, 29 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's called a redirect, which means if enough information can be found about him to warrant an article, then that can be added to his page. If not, he will be removed from his entry at Deaths in April 2015 at the appropriate time. His page, however, will remain in the Wikisphere. — Wyliepedia 03:47, 29 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Calvin Peete

[edit]

His DOD is currently unknown. Here's the funeral home catering his services. An obituary will hopefully pop up soon. RAP (talk) 12:46 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Baby killed by scalding by nurse arrested before flying to Nigeria

[edit]

Please consider this case, was rejected by one editor. Baby is notable because of the nature of her death and who killed her. If there is no evident motive, it's not much different than a some kind of domestic or personal act of terrorism. Bachcell (talk) 18:36, 30 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

April 25, 2015 *Naomi Mondesire, 22 months, baby in Bronx NY allegedly killed by nurse Oluyemisi Adebayo in a hot bath.[1]

If there's enough substance for a "Death of Naomi Mondesire", then sure, but as of now the case isn't very notable, the child and nurse don't have individual articles, so it cannot be added to the list. Rusted AutoParts 18:39, 30 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Says don't need an article for a month Many notable people die before a Wikipedia article is written about them. The regular editors of this page have agreed that a death notice without an article may remain for one month after the death, so that an article may develop. If there is no article after one month, then the death notice is removed from the list. Bachcell (talk) 15:35, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
"Many notable people" is the most important part of that quote. The baby, nor the nurse, was not notable, as stated by R AP. Also, per your source, there was no motive given, it's all speculation, despite the alleged claiming it was an innocent act but then tried to flee the country. The suggested article for the act thereof would be highly scrutinized. — Wyliepedia 03:29, 2 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Redlinks should have at least a hint of potential notability. Without it, there'd be hundreds of redlinks to every blue. Obituaries and death notices often note the dead person's deeds, giving article builders something to work with. This baby (like most non-royal babies) didn't have time to do anything. Too certainly non-notable to leave for a day, let alone a month. InedibleHulk (talk) 14:44, 6 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
