Why aren't the notorious circumstances of his death (the corpse rotting, the stench from the coffin, the subsequent banishment of the housekeeper and doctor) detailed here? If you're going to have a page devoted to his death, you really should include all the information, especially that which makes it noteworthy. (And let's face it, such a grim, medieval death is pretty noteworthy in this modern era.) This reads like a children's Golden Book of Popes, with far too much cutesy speculative detail ("the sisters prayed for relief, feeling helpless..."). 64.132.218.4 (talk) 21:49, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This article really just does not need to exist. The subject of any notable person's "illness and death" should be covered in a biographical article on the person. If there is something significant about the illness and death of a public figure-- significant enough that it merits extended discussion on its own (e.g., the Kennedy assassination), then that should be made clear. Otherwise, a separate page is unwarranted. Jlg4104 (talk) 04:48, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I concur with "History 2007." However, the tone and style of the writing is not wikified. If the material is reworked I cannot see a reason why significant details of his death should be deleted. T.E. Goodwin (talk) 16:34, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
