Removing notability tag

[edit]

I'm removing the notability tag; I'm a bit baffled as to why it was added since there are multiple citations from reliable sources such as Die Tageszeitung, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and Hamburger Abendblatt. Mujinga (talk) 22:54, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Because, while tragic, this is simply another death with no long-lasting implications. Onel5969 TT me 23:28, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So by re-addng the tag, you are asking for people to "demonstrate the notability of the topic by citing reliable secondary sources that are independent of the topic and provide significant coverage of it beyond a mere trivial mention". Well, the magazine Bürgerrechte & Polizei/CILIP published an article about the "Hamburg tragedy", Der Freitag wrote about the use of emetics and profiled Achidi John, and Die Tageszeitung wrote about the death twenty years later. Even NDR, major public broadcaster for the Hamburg area, had a special about him on 5 January 2022(!). KittenKlub (talk) 16:25, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Not to mention that the case has been referenced in international sources like time, yahoo, ABC as an example of a continuing problem in Germany. Of course you can argue about the amount of significant coverage, however it demonstrates that it has a long-lasting implications - twenty years after the event.KittenKlub (talk) 11:10, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The poor boy was tortured to death by the police as ordered by then senator, now chancellor Olaf Scholz. This makes him notable. -- Sloyment (talk) 17:17, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
