1963 NCAA Tournament
[edit]The 1963 controversy wasn't about integrating MSU's athletic teams. It was about whether or not those teams, or any teams from Mississippi's colleges and universities, were going to be allowed to compete against integrated teams from other schools. At the time the SEC was all white and Mississippi had an unwritten rule barring teams representing its schools from playing against integrated teams.158.15.255.228 (talk) 15:11, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
- I don't understand why you would think this is not important? The importance of Colvard and the issue at hand is stated throughout the entire piece... So why would you delete it? (Damille 04:38, 5 December 2006 (UTC)Dan Miller
- It would help if you rewrote to follow guidelines. Start by breaking it up into sections. Get rid of the tabs. Assert the article's notability up front in the first paragraph (before the first section). Add references and categories. As is, the article is impossible to read. Undue weight
[edit]This article gives way too much attention to just one thing that happened at one of 2 universities that Colvard headed. There is more to college than athletics, and in Mississippi football is as big as basketball. The article should say more about his term as president of Mississippi State than just reporting on one conflict. It would also benefit from more information on his time at UNC.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:18, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
