Newcastle Speculation
[edit]Please can people STOP putting "Ashton has been linked with a move to Newcastle", unless it's properley sourced. Thank You :-) --Skully Collins 08:19, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- After searching for a bit, I can find no news on this speculation about him moving to Newcastle...There is nothing on the BBC website and nothing on the Newcastle OR West Ham website... --Skully Collins 08:34, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
I have removed the part stating that one day he may fill shearers boots at Newcastle. Pure speculation.
Club Stat Table
[edit]can someone please go through the club Stat and check if everything adds up, please? --Skully Collins 14:32, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- Just did, and not everything adds up. On the 04-05 season for Crewe, 17 lge goals + 2 lge cup goals = 20. That's not right. soccerbase has quite different stats for most figures shown. SLUMGUM yap stalk 16:12, 5 July 2006
(UTC)
- I've gone through the table in detail and used soccerbase as well...and apparently, I've added one more game and have subtracted 1 goal...All I know is that it's a goal scored for Crewe as Norwich and West Ham all check out. Which basically means that the career stats table is short by one league goal and has one more league game then it should...unless soccerbase has got it's totals wrong? --Skully Collins 07:58, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Spurs
[edit]Although I am not certain that he has moved to Spurs, I like a source of this infomation that he has moved to Tottenham, please? --Skully Collins 09:52, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- Spurs wanna get Ashton by 7m, but it may happen at the next transfer market.--Tszkin2004 05:09, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
Birthplace
[edit]Top of the page claims Swindon but article contnues to say he was born in Shrewsbury. (At least) one of these must be wrong. Cloudz679 10:12, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
- Swindon. Shrewsbury was added in an edit on 15th August, while Swindon's been there practically since the article was created nearly 2 years ago. {{disputed}} tag removed. -- Arwel (talk) 22:17, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
- This source: [1] claims he was born in Crewe. Now I'm unsure. Which source provides the most accurate information? DDStretch (talk) 09:27, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- I think we should go for the Official Club Websites birthplace: Crewe Alex - Swindon, West Ham - Crewe, Soccerbase - Swindon. I'll go and check on Football Manager 2006 soon...unless that isn't a Reliable Source in anyone's opinion...--Skully Collins Edits 11:21, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- Good idea - I think there may have been some confusion between his place of birth and the place where he first played for a professional football club - I knew football could become all-encompassing for some, but surely not that all-encompassing! 8-) DDStretch (talk) 11:55, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- FM Agrees with the article. Swindon stays. We may have to contact Yahoo and the West Ham sites about this issue to avoid further confusion in the future.--Skully Collins Edits 11:34, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'll also make a check on various Cheshire-related sites to correct them if required. DDStretch (talk) 15:21, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

- Today, some person vandalised the entry to say that he was born in Stoke-on-Trent. I'll revert it and warn the anon user. DDStretch (talk) 20:15, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Does anyone can take a photo with him?
[edit]Now-a-day, wikipedia don't allow upload some fair use photo, i hope someone can take a photo with him. Thanks--Tszkin2004 05:13, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Retirement?
[edit]Does The Mirror's report into his possible retirement deserve a mention? Spiderone 17:26, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- I think it would be best to wait for an actual announcement. The Mirror is not the most reliable of sources for footballing stories imo. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 17:44, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- In Zola's after match interview today he said he was still hopeful for Ashton. Whatever that means what he didn't do was confirm Ashton's retirement. Better to wait for the club to say something.--Egghead06 (talk) 17:50, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

- The Guardian says he's expected to announce his retirement today.[2] However, he hasn't announced it yet, so it's still jumping the gun. —C.Fred (talk) 06:21, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
- Dean Ashton has been expected to retire for many months now. All rumours say it will be today but until announced that all they are.--Egghead06 (talk) 08:51, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
- Well now he has....http://www.whufc.com/articles/ashton-forced-to-retire-20091211_2236884_1901509 I'm sure this article will be done to death today...think I'll wait til it has died down a bit!--Egghead06 (talk) 09:14, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
