Isn't "dot head" in the first paragraph derogatory? (I'm in the USA, and not positive, but it sure sounds it) - does it have a place in a factual article like this?
Proposed Merge

Removing Neha Sharma case section (see discussion)
[edit]Neha Sharma Murder Case
[edit]I am deleting the Neha Sharma murder case section for the following reasons:
- It is news for the people in Agra, but not a major section in the article
- It occurred in the DEI campus and NOT Dayalbagh (the ashram) per se

Readding Neha Sharma murder case
[edit]User detrainman appears to have vested interest in hiding this matter. Secondly, this page is about DEI, the campus where this murder took place.AgraNewsObserver (talk) 09:36, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
Deleting Neha Sharma murder case
[edit]AgraNewsObserver,
- You clearly are re-adding the section, which means you have a vested interest in the matter
- If every Wiki article had every murder that took place, then the pages of Delhi and Agra would be a daily murder report
- You clearly do not understand the difference between a wiki and a newspaper.
- Please visit WikiNews (en.wikinews.org) to update your news
Detrainman (talk) 12:58, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
On a personal note, I hope that justice to the young woman is done by convicting the person(s) responsible, but editing the wiki page of the institution is not the way to show your anger.
Neha Sharma justification
[edit]Detrainman,
- Yes, I have a vested interest in the matter. I want the truth to come out. Everything in the section is verifiable through media reports.
- This is not an ordinary murder. Would you mind referencing a single murder that has occurred in an educational institute where everyone from the watchman to the chairman tried to protect the murderer? Would you mind referencing a single murder in Agra to which the media has given this much attention and students have shown this much discontent? There will be none except this one. This is no ordinary murder. It shakes the very foundation of our education system. An institute's chairman's grandson murders a Ph.D scholar using lab keys given to him by his grandfather even though he was just an undergrad and had no reason to access the nano-biotechnology lab. The institute's administration instead of wanting the truth to come out tries to destroy evidence and even plans to dump the poor girl's body. It shocks me to the core that you believe that this should not be mentioned on Wikipedia. What if Neha, the girl murdered was your sister or daughter? Would you still say the same?
- Regarding your understanding of "wiki and and a newspaper", I would not like to point out your ignorance.

Neha Sharma Edit War
[edit]AgraNewsObserver:
I am not going to edit the page right now, because we are in disagreement.
To clarify:
- I fully support transparency and justice in Neha Sharma's trial
- I wish that maximum penalty is given to the culprit(s)
- Some of your claims are allegations, and not facts till proven in court
- It appears that you do not like the Dayalbagh and Dayalbagh Educational Institute, and you are influenced by your feelings
Please read this:
- Go on other institute wiki pages and check if they have murders listed on their page.
- Go on any page about a suburb, and check if they have individual murders listed
- You will find that they don't have murders/crimes listed. This is not because the editors are insensitive, but because Wikipedia entry about Dayalbagh is intended be an encyclopedia, not a murder list
Finally:
- Create a separate Wiki page called "Neha Sharma Murder Case" and update it regularly
- If required, I will keep reverting your edits, till the end of the world. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Detrainman (talk • contribs) 19:10, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
Courtesy Break
[edit]Neha Sharma - proposed 3Opinion solution
[edit]- Detrainman is correct that, usually, ongoing murder or other crime cases do not take up space in a campus article. On occasion, the crime (like a campus killing) is so high-profile that it starts on the campus article space before launching into its own main article - but ultimately, that is where the case needs to go.
- AgraNewsObserver, there are two appropriate channels open to you and other supporters and it would be great if you did both (or either). First go to WikiNews (en.wikinews.org) and scroll down to "write an article"! This will launch you into creating this article. Also, to bring that information into Wikipedia you can start an article over at the new article wizard. You can do this! Good luck. EBY (talk) 04:09, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
The article is in the starting phase. When I have free time, I will write a complete page containing every little detail of the murder published in the media. I plan on adding a link to that page in the opening lines of this article.
Something like, The institute gained visibility in the national media on the murder of Neha Sharma due to the alleged involvement of the Dayalbagh administration in it.
AgraNewsObserver (talk) 13:41, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
- No need to make it perfect. If you post the article with the basics, other editors will then start adding to it. If this is your first article, then you may want to remember -
Wikipedia's Law of Unintended Consequences
Once the article is created, you have no right to control its content, or to delete it outside the normal channels. Content is irrevocably added with every edit. If there is anything publicly available on a topic that you would not want to have included in an article, note that it will probably find its way there eventually.
- If you'd like my help, let me know. - EBY (talk) 14:34, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
AgraNewsObserver, I can help you with the separate article, but the mention will not go in the opening paragraph of the article. For an example, please review the wiki of http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Virginia_Tech . Detrainman (talk) 00:01, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
Why First Paragraph?
[edit]Given the seriousness of this issue and the people involved, it would be only reasonable to mention this in the first paragraph. AgraNewsObserver (talk) 03:38, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
Nope. I disagree. And so do editors of other university articles Detrainman (talk) 04:06, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
Once again, I disagree with you. Viginia Tech massacre does not involve the institution's administration while Neha Sharma's does. If I am a father of a daughter seeking information about DEI, I need to know that my daughter is not safe here. I need to know that if she gets murdered, the institute's administration will not try to bring the perpetrators to justice but instead try to hide the matter and even dispose off her body for it. I need to know that relatives of the institute's management have a free right to harass her and no one will listen to her if she complaints. That is the reason I still maintain that the section should stays along with making a new page. AgraNewsObserver (talk) 05:17, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
AgraNewsObserver, Editor EBY3221 has already given their opinion. Please start working on separating the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.83.137.74 (talk) 21:26, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
IP Address 74.83.137.74,
I request [[EBY3221]] to read the following reasons:-
- Usually, in campus crimes, the institute's administration is not involved. They are crimes that could have happened anywhere and are not in anyway caused due to the involvement of a particular institute. That is is the reason I feel they are not mentioned on campus pages and have their own page. I feel in extraordinary cases like this where the institute's administration was involved in a coverup, the section should be maintained.
- Quoting Diderot, "Indeed, the purpose of an encyclopedia is to collect knowledge disseminated around the globe; to set forth its general system to the men with whom we live, and transmit it to those who will come after us, so that the work of preceding centuries will not become useless to the centuries to come; and so that our offspring, becoming better instructed, will at the same time become more virtuous and happy, and that we should not die without having rendered a service to the human race in the future years to come." Don't you think fathers of daughters seeking information about DEI will be better instructed by reading a section about this murder and about the nature of this institute's management? Quoting one of my earlier response:- "If I am a father of a daughter seeking information about DEI, I need to know that my daughter is not safe here. I need to know that if she gets murdered, the institute's administration will not try to bring the perpetrators to justice but instead try to hide the matter and even dispose off her body for it. I need to know that relatives of the institute's management have a free right to harass her and no one will listen to her if she complaints. I need to know that no one will testify against the criminals if they are the relatives of a person who is next in line to be the guru."
- It is mentioned on Wikipedia's policies and guidelines page, Wikipedia does not employ hard-and-fast rules. Wikipedia also states that policies and guidelines should always be applied using reason and common sense. Common sense is defined by Merriam-Webster as, "sound and prudent judgment based on a simple perception of the situation or facts." Don't you think common sense guides this page be maintained?
- To point out the seriousness of this crime, I would like to mention a few things that separate this murder from other campus crimes. These are not mentioned by me in the section. Dayalbagh's administration cut the electricity of the nano-biotech lab when the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) team went in there to look for clues. Prem Kumar, grandfather of the accused, is next in line to be the guru of the religious society that maintains this institute. Members of this society, Dayalbagh satsang sabha, accompanied Prem Kumar to the police station every time the accused was questioned. They did this to pressurize the police to not take the accused in custody. The authorities of the Dayalbagh educational institute did not take any action against Uday Swaroop when he was constantly harassing Neha through messages and phone calls as he was the institute's chairman's (Prem Kumar's) grandson. She even reported this to her professors. If they had taken action, the girl would probably be alive. The professor who saw Yashveer leave with Neha's car kept quiet under pressure. Uday was not suspended from DEI despite committing such a serious crime especially when DEI is known to suspend students for very small acts of misconduct. The institute's administration was in a hurry to clean the lab containing her body evidently to destroy evidence. Dayalbagh authorities are still pressurizing Neha's family to not pursue the case. Director VG Das denies having any knowledge of Uday's behavior even though many students say that he misbehaved in front of the professors. Neha was a scientist and was working on a project funded by the Government of India. The project was related to creating a different method of vaccination of Polio and was worth nearly USD 400 Thousand.
Do you still think that the section should not be included in the campus article?AgraNewsObserver (talk) 07:04, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
AgraNewsObserver
If you can back your claims with references, not allegations, you can put them in the History section. Meanwhile, start working on separating the article.

Reply to Edit War
[edit]Detrainman,
Regarding your clarifications:
- I highly doubt that.
- Given how you feel that this matter is "newsworthy (for sometime)" and "does not deserve being mentioned", your attitude is highlighted and it appears to me that either you don't respect women or are familiar with them being (raped and) murdered.
- First of all, these are not my allegations. These are reports published in print media. If you want, I can send some of them to you.
- You feel that I am doing this because I don't like Dayalbagh. Well, that isn't the case. If I did, I would have mentioned how Dayalbagh's administration cutoff the lights of the nano-biotech lab when the CBI went in there to look for clues. I would have also mentioned that Prem Kumar is next in line to be the guru. I would have mentioned how the sacred Dayalbagh satsang sabha members accompanied Prem Kumar to the police station everytime Uday was questioned. I would have mentioned why the authorities of the Dayalbagh educational institute did not take any action against Uday Swaroop when he was constantly harassing her through messages and phone calls. She even reported this to her professors. I would have mentioned how the professor who saw Yashveer leave with Neha's car kept quiet for so long. I would have mentioned why Uday was not suspended from DEI despite committing such a serious crime especially when DEI is known for its discipline. I would have mentioned how the institute's administration was in hurry to clean the lab. I would have mentioned how Uday whenever he was questioned by the police answered as if he was trained to do so. I would have mentioned how Dayalbagh authorities are still pressurizing Neha's family to not pursue the case. I would have mentioned that Prem Kumar still maintains that Uday is innocent. I would have mentioned how Director VG Das blatantly denies having any knowledge of Uday's behavior especially when many students said that he did not even respect the professors and did not even listen to them.
Please read this:
- Why are you trying to downplay this murder? It is serious and I doubt if a crime as serious as this has been committed in a suburb let alone an institute.
- I have never said that the editors are insensitive. I feel that you are because of your earlier remarks.
Finally:
- I strongly feel that this incident is something that should be mentioned on these pages as well.
- I don't want an edit war and will not be part of one. I want you to understand the seriousness of the issue and please let the poor girl's story be known to everyone. You say you are not insensitive. Well, it is time to prove so.

Personal attack by AgraNewsObserver
[edit]- During our discussion, you said that I have been covering up the murder news of Dayalbagh, implying that I might know the culprit. This is juvenile behavior and you should behave in a mature manner.
- You also said that I don't care about the young woman who was murdered. That was uncalled for and was an immature comment.
- If you do not know how to reply to my comments, you do not have to criticize me.
- See No Personal Attacks
Detrainman (talk) 00:13, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
Look who's saying / Personal Attacks
[edit]- Which sentence did I use to imply that you know the culprit? I think it was "you have a vested interest in the matter." I wrote this to imply that you are a stakeholder meaning that you are either a student of this institute or a member of the Dayalbagh administration, one of which you clearly are. Moreover, as everyone can see that you countered it by personally attacking me saying that I have a vested interest in the matter, I feel this point is nullified. Your personal attacks did not stop here. You went on to say that I clearly do not understand the difference between a wiki and a newspaper. I don't know about you but this too looks like a personal attack to me.
- Yes, I still feel that you do not care about her murder. How else can you justify calling her murder as only newsworthy "for sometime"? Why else would you write that her murder "did not deserve to be mentioned" as your reason for edit?
- What unanswered comments are you talking about? I answered everyone of your comment. It is you who hasn't replied to mine. I get that you are doing this because you have no reply to the questions raised by me. It is why you are resorting to such methods. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AgraNewsObserver (talk • contribs) 03:53, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
EOD
[edit]- You are right that we are even on "vested interest". I apologize.
- I don't have to justify myself, but I will: The US news does not carry the Virginia Tech Massacre event everyday. The day it stops being mentioned on the news, is the day the topic moves into its own page.
- I wish to stop this discussion here
Detrainman (talk) 04:12, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
Content dispute
[edit]If you are unable to achieve consensus, can I suggest you seek an experienced editor to review the discussion and who might come up with their thoughts on how to proceed? I have used this approach previously to good effect. Remember to keep discussion on the topic of content and try to remain civil at all times. Good luck with your editing Flat Out let's discuss it 04:59, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
EOD and other matters
[edit]Detrainman,
Once again you answered questions suitable to you. How would you justify "does not deserve to be mentioned"? This discussion cannot be ended until you give convincing answers.
Flat Out, I still maintain that the section should stay along with making a new page. I need to know that no one will testify against the criminals if they are the relatives of a person who is next in line to be the guru. AgraNewsObserver (talk) 05:23, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
- I have no opinion on this dispute other than to say its an argument that is going nowhere. If you can't achieve consensus Ask an experienced editor like Cullen328 to do an independent review. Flat Out let's discuss it 05:28, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
- I agree that it deserves to be mentioned. I meant to write "does not deserve its own section".
- You said "If I am a father of a daughter seeking information about DEI". That is an emotional argument, and not one based on Wikipedia's rules. If you want your rules to be followed, start your own wiki website.
- User EBY3221 has given his/her opinion in the above section. You should not start the argument all over again.
Detrainman (talk) 22:18, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
Detrainman,
- I understand that you actually wanted to say this.</sarcasm>
- Which rules are you talking about? As it is clearly mentioned on Wikipedia's policies and guidelines page, Wikipedia does not employ hard-and-fast rules. Wikipedia also states that policies and guidelines should always be applied using reason and common sense. Common sense is defined by Merriam-Webster as, "sound and prudent judgment based on a simple perception of the situation or facts." Since a person's perception is influenced by his emotions, you saying that this is an emotional argument only strengthens the inference that this section be maintained. So, if people agree to this emotional argument, then their common sense will also agree to this.
- EBY said that "usually, ongoing murder or other crime cases do not take up space in a campus article. The word usually makes me feel that he/she feels that extraordinary cases like this one needs to be mentioned.
- Why are you skipping questions? If you feel that you don't have an answer to my questions, then you should end this debate here.
AgraNewsObserver (talk) 05:48, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
AgraNewsObserver What question do you have that should be answered by me? 74.83.137.74 (talk) 13:21, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

Skeptic-seeker (talk) 22:34, 12 March 2015 (UTC)the only thing ppl are yet to claim is Neha Sharma committed suicide - the case is covered up, the victim's father continues to seek justice which is no signs of being rendered - and concerned people are busy blaming the victim and liberally using karma and related concepts to obfuscate the murder - apparently there was another murder as well within a few miles of the campus and the two incidents are related.
- This is not a forum. AndyTheGrump (talk) 22:37, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
See my comments at Talk:Dayalbagh. This section contained several assertions regarding allegations of a cover up etc either sourced to uploaded scans of documents (which are never acceptable as sources) or entirely unsupported by the sources cited. This constitutes a gross violation of WP:BLP policy. I shall be raising these articles at WP:BLPN, and asking for outside support to ensure that the matter is covered appropriately, and in compliance with policy. I suggest that those involved in the discussion so far familiarise themselves with WP:BLP and WP:RS policy in the mean time. AndyTheGrump (talk) 18:47, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
Note: I have raised this matter at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard#Articles on Dayalbagh and the Dayalbagh Educational Institute, and asked for outside assistance. AndyTheGrump (talk) 19:11, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
The section does not say that the accused is the murderer and is in line with NPOV. A lot of what is in the section can be verified at http://www.indianexpress.com/news/laboratory-of-murder-clues/1107266/0 . To verify the rest of the content, I request users having knowledge of Hindi to read the eArchives of Amar Ujala Agra edition dated 16th March to 30th April at http://earchive.amarujala.com.
I also request Andy to suggest better ways to source content published in print newspapers. AgraNewsObserver (talk) 15:47, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
- The BLP issues do not solely concern the alleged murderer. There were multiple claims of a cover-up, and none of the acceptable sources I could access substantiated this. I suggest that before any material is restored, we ensure that adequate sourcing is provided, and that the material accurately reflects the sources - I have made it perfectly clear that WP:BLP policy needs to be complied with, and I'm not prepared to engage in edit-warring. Any further violations of WP:BLP, whether in the article or on this talk page, will be reported. Compliance with policy is not optional. AndyTheGrump (talk) 19:11, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

This is a request to remove the Controversy section in this Wikipedia Page. It is seen as defamation of not the university, but the individuals involved. The above talk (more like contention) has various allegations that are entirely false, such as the identity of the relative of the criminal. It is agreed that the rape and murder of Neha Sharma was a hideous act, but publishing it on the page of the educational society alongside baseless "news" by an ill informed user after legal justice has been delivered seems strange. Please See- I am not asking for the incident to be covered up or ignored, and this is not a personal attack on any individual or institution, just a humble request. Thank you! - I've merged it into history section as it's an incident rather than a controversy. Mentioning notable incidents does not appear defamatory to the university. – Thjarkur (talk) 15:58, 7 February 2020 (UTC)

from the first paragraph The correct version should read as following
