Bonus round

The "post-round" killing was recently made a server-side option, if someone wants to add that... --UNHchabo 09:07, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

I corrected an almost pathetic amount of mistakes and assumptions made on how the engine works. Also re-organized and regrouped many of the mislocated sections.

Vandals

This page is suffering repeated and consistent vandalism from multiple IPs. I reccommend everyone leave it alone until the vandals have got bored. --Tom Edwards 09:34, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

Roger, someone keeps taking out the dod:c section. --Pierog

Is there anyway to stop this IP from utilizing this service 69.174.123.159? --Pierog

You can request a ban, but the admins are very strict on that sort of thing. It's best to wait. --Tom Edwards 10:06, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

I keep seeing 69.174.123.159 editing the dod:C section. As much as I dislike the mod, it deserves to be on the list.

I've editted this article once from another IP, and its been blocked with the reason "persistant vandalism, fifth block"... all I did was change the picture next to Donner in the maps section. -- S@bre

redirect pages added

I've added day of defeat: source and day of defeat source as redirects to this page. Hopefully that'll help people find the article. 24.57.203.238 13:53, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

New visuals descriptions added

I put in basic descriptions of how new things like Depth of Field and Motion Blur work. However, I'm not quite sure what Color Correction is, if someone would like to add that.

Request

When the game loads, half the time a German soldier is yelling something; the other half it's an American soldier. I find it unintelligle, someone out there has to know the text. I think it would make an interesting trivia. -- Ifnord 02:06, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

When the American soldier speaks, he sounds like he's asking for an artillery strike near his position in WW2 code. I don't speak German however. Userpie 21:15, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

The American soldier is shouting "Incoming [I didn't catch what was incoming, but it sounded like missiles] from the east, request fire mission, request fire mission!" The Axis Soldier is saying something about enemies attacking their position, and how their positions are being overrun by the enemy. Sefog 13:25, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

"We've got heavy armour due south of our position. Sniper fire, north-east corner of building. Request fire mission, request fire mission." This is the American radio. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.143.68.98 (talk) 22:19, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

New Official Maps section

Added a new section for official maps, as the gameplay section was overly large. Maps don't really belong in "gameplay" anyway. -- Koblentz 16:14, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

When is the new map coming out? They said they will bring a new DoD:S map as well as new CS:S skins. They followed up on the CS:S skins, but I don't know about the new map. It's already April 30!!! -- Mikey

Added in a section for Colmar. I'll fill it in with more detailed info after the map is released -- S@bre

Day of Defeat now has its own maps page, Day of Defeat maps, we need to decide what information should be shifted to that page and what should remain here. Kflorence 21:07, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

I'm going to add the CAMP maps to the map section. Whilst not official they deserve recognition here as they are endorsed by Valve and they did have a hand in the making - ie the overview texture bases were clearly provided by Valve. I'll add them to the list, make it clear they are unofficial and add the link to the announcement at the DoD forums. -- S@bre

Citations

How can we add citations for the changelog? It is all obvious information that can easily be aquired from playing 1.3 and Source. No official changelog was ever posted by Valve anyway. -- S@bre

Kalt

I'm a little perturbed by the location given for the map Kalt. It's currently listed as 'Kalt, Northern France', but other sources related to the game say that it's supposedly just inside the German border. Also, I can't find any references to the town that aren't related to the game: I've heard 'kalt' is German for 'cold' which makes me think the town is fictional. If the town doesn't actually exist I think some mention of this should be made. --Dom 04:01, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Yes, you're right, Kalt is German for 'cold' (and 'heiss/heiß' means 'hot'). I'm not sure whether the name is fictional, but I would expect it to be, as it is unlikely there is a real town calle 'Cold'. —Vanderdecken ξφ 19:27, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
  • The name is German, but based on the actual dates it is likely to be in Belgium for the Battle of the Bulge. However, the ingame overview tells us that it is part of the "Campaign in France", so the most logical place is northern France. It's not in Germany, the signs around the map are in French, not German. - S@bre, 30th July 2006.
  • Hi, there is a town in Germany called Kalt (and yes it does mean Cold in German) - it is near the city of Koblenz - close to the border with Luxembourg but i doubt this is the one in the game - seems more like a fictional name to me. Simon 19/12/2006

Shores of Glory

SoG is no longer a DoD: S mod, they have switched to HL 2. Go to www.planethalflife.com and see today's update.

Defense/defence

Not to sound ethnocentric, but wouldn't "defense" be more appropriate for this article than "defence", since it's an American-made game? --UNHchabo 22:01, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Are you sure defence isn't used in game? We only use the word once and that's in reference to one specific map. It's easily possible that map uses defence instead of defense Nil Einne 18:16, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

I took out

I took out Home of the 82nd Rangers Day of Defeat Source Clan, to me this is just a person trying to get attention to his/her site. does anyone agree? if no one agress ill put it back -= virus =- 0.o 13:23, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Always remove clan links from this or any other Wikipedia page, unless they are somehow notable enough to merit a Wikipedia page themselves. The few that do are actually professional e-Sports teams, and there is no professional DoD:S competition (not to say that there aren't good teams, it just doesn't get played in tournaments with notable prizes). --Habap 15:50, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

MOD

Don't you guys think we should create a section for MOD? Team Fortress Classic mention NeoTF and counter-strike mention zombie mod. It's only fair to mention that there are mod available for DOD:Source. I think there are zombie mod and Warcraft3 Mod for DoD:source. (frankyz 4/5/2007)

There are no mods for DoD: S that have been established as famous enough. Zombie Mod, Garry's Mod (which has its own article) are famous in their own right throughout the gaming world, but no DoD: S mods have really reached that height so far. If you can provide good sources for an extremely popular mod that should be included, post them here and we'll add it. —Vanderdeckenξφ 18:21, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
It might be too early now to name the mod considering the popularity, but i believe we should let readers know that there are customization available for DoD:Source, such as custom maps, custom server side mod, (they still have skin/sound customization?)...etc. much like the Customization section for counter-strike source, but not as detailed (frankyz 4/6/2007) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.64.218.57 (talk) 18:04, 6 April 2007 (UTC).

Silver & Gold

Shouldn't we mention how it was part of the now-defunct silver and gold HL2 packages? And so people who purchased or upgraded to said packages had to wait a year for it's release. (Of course for a time people could upgrade from Bronze to Silver for $10.00 i.e. effectively getting HL:S & DOD:S for $10) Nil Einne 18:14, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Jagd.jpg

Image:Jagd.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The link to TeamWareFare League leads to a page for Scrabble tournaments. Can someone change that? 68.249.179.4 (talk) 01:56, 29 November 2007 (UTC)--
