Notability Tag
[edit]As a businessman, the subject is not notable per se. The webpages offered as sources, e.g. this one] are not WP:RS, nor do mentions in blogs, e.g. this one give any real proof of notability. I think there are some items that suggest Barker could be notable, for example being interviewed by John Stossel. He does not seem to be mentioned in the Time article, but is mentioned in the NYT article. Ultimately, I think there should be enough out there to shore this up, but it has to be added. There's also a lot of WP:OR, which should be cut back. I will do some more digging and will clean-up as time permits. Thanks, Agricola44 (talk) 10:55, 20 November 2013 (UTC).
I am working on it, will have some changes ready in a week or so. Nortogre (talk) 01:35, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
Added information and references establishing notability, removed unsourced material. Nortogre (talk) 20:54, 27 April 2014 (UTC)
- Is there evidence of this guy after 2012? His U of Chicago link is dead, he is not listed with University of Iowa now in July 2018. His is a common name, so I looked at a lot of people who are David Barker but not David R. Barker, and cannot find anything current. Agricola44 and Nortogre I was working on the Gadsden Purchase article, where he is cited, and am still wondering if the text in that article relying on an appendix to his Alaska paper is worth keeping. --Prairieplant (talk) 11:40, 12 July 2018 (UTC)
The University of Iowa directory still shows him as an adjunct professor. Yadllaf (talk) 21:50, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
