High profile?
[edit]Very surprised this is the first comment! Regarding: "Mo Johnston, the first high-profile Catholic to play for the club since the Second World War", who were the "high-profile" Catholics who played for Rangers before WWII? I'm aware that speculation exists as to the "religious affiliation" of some Rangers players of the past, but "high-profile"? Camillus (talk) 02:39, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
Flow of sentences
[edit]There are a number of sentences that simply don't flow very well at all. Some of them are just grammatically wrong and want attention. Obviously a fairly important article within British football, and as such it could do with a little attention.Londo06 14:15, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Finances - investment claim
[edit]I've deleted the words 'By his own admission' as they a) are redundant given that the sentence went on to say that he stated that, b) are lifted straight from the copyright article cited as a source, and c) sound very strange. You admit to crimes or similar wrong-doings, not investing in a football club. It's a boast or a 'don't blame me', if anything.
This claim is strongly disputed by others who say that there's nothing in the published accounts to support this. Rather, they show that by having Rangers pay to use his companies for various functions, he effectively took out £26 million over that time. The source I gave to reference this - http://rangerstaxcase.wordpress.com/2011/04/08/how-much-would-you-pay-for-rangers/ - has been deemed by one editor to be not reliable. Would a reference to the relevant years' accounts be accepted as reliable or would that fall under WP:NOR?
For avoidance of doubt, while I am aware that this whole saga is a highly controversial one in Scotland, I am not a fan of any Scottish footba' team. The closest I come to supporting one is being interested in the results of a team currently in the English First (i.e. really the third) Division and seeing it play about five times in ten years.
